Snow!

With snow predicted here in Chicago today, I was wondering what the best way to remove the snow would be to avoid scratches. Would a regular snow brush work? My car is diamond graphite it that would make a difference. Thanks.

Re: Snow!

STOP!

I am assuming you are talking about a snow brush that has a scraper on one end or something of similar consistency. Those bristles are way to rough to be using. They will cause scratches and swirls. A friend of mine used one of those on his new s4 last year and put small little scratches in the paint.

I don't know what to tell you to use though. My car is covered at all times except when I'm driving it, so I don't have to worry about it, lucky me. I'm ready for the snow, bring it on.

Re: Snow!

You may want to throw a post up in the details section.

Re: Snow!

Thanks for the info. My car in usually in the garage except at work. I was thinking the detail forum but thought I'd ask some fellow snow belt people what they use. I'm waiting for snow to see how the AWD works.

Re: Snow!

ekaz... i'd stay away from that brush. it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. oh, other good places to post your question would be the canada or northeast regional forums.

but, let us know how that ATTESA system works out for you this weekend with the snow because i'm looking to get the FX as a winter vehicle.

Re: Snow!

You can look for a snow brush with 'feathered' tip bristles. The standard type is very rough on your clearcoat as you can tell by brushing the inside of your wrist-it hurts!

I bought a couple up here in Canada made by Mallory called the 'Sno Wisp'. The more expensive or larger ones by Mallory have the rougher bristles.

You can use one of the feather-tip 'magnetic' broom heads if you can't find a good snow brush. Just do the 'inner wrist test'!

Hope this helps.

Re: Snow!

gordgee - do you have a pic of this or maybe know where I could pick one up? All I can find are the nasty ones. Thanks.

I did find the OXO Snow brush online, but haven't been able to check it out in person: http://www.autogeek.net/oxosnowbrush.html
