Radar detectors....
Radar detectors....
I've got an hour so here's another tidbit. Check out this month's Motor Trend magazine or online and they did a very nice piece on Radar detectors in there. Have too say it's no surprise that the Escort Passport, V! and Beltronics are favoured. Also, if you are in the market for a detector, check out the links on MotorTrend, because they had a vendor selling the Beltronic 985 for about $70 less than circuit city, it's a nice unit and is almost exactly the same in quality/performance as the Escort Passport, for about $70 less.
Just thought I'd pass that on.

Re: Radar detectors....
For those interested in saving money --- Dont bother with buying a radar detector. Unless the user is inexperienced he/she will have your speed in under a second. Typically when you run radar you sit in a good location with the gun on but not running active (detector will not pick this mode up) and then hit the vehicle when its in range. Laser models are even faster 1/100th of a second (anybody got reflexes like that??) Best advice -- drive fast where you wont get caught!!
Re: Radar detectors....
detectors can help in some cases. If you know your hit, but the officer is going to have some trouble getting out after you, you may be able to turn off somewhere.
Also, as far as i know, Ka band is easier to detect.
