This one is for Ry
Re: This one is for Ry
Orange County. I lived in Coronado, CA during my enlistment. I must say that I absolutely loved southern California. Of course I would need to win the lottery, but I can still dream.

Thanks.
Hmmm, let's see. That is a good question. There are so many places I would like to live. I would say Oregon. It is a beautiful state with so many outdoor activities. I think I would live in Astoria. For those who don't know Astoria, it is where Goonies was filmed. It is a charming seaside town with access to Mountains, Hiking, Kayaking, Beeches, everything you could ever want to do outdoors. The winters aren't too terribly bad and the summers not too hot. Then if you need a larger city for whatever reason, there is Portland, another gorgeous place. You have Mt. Hood nearby and tons of parks. The state isn't overpopulated and most people are healthy and active. I've only been there once, but I think I could easily make a life out there.
Check it out.

After living here? Henderson, NV during the fall and winter and Breckenridge during the summer and weekends in the winter This place is such a great place-- there's a nice "suburbian" feel in Henderson with outdoor concerts, fishing trips to the coast, etc. for those who live here. You're 10 minutes away from world-class dining and entertainment, but it's still a "sleepy" place. Tiger Woods' coach teaches golf at one of the courses, and you take helicopter tours of the mountain range for $25... Small town, big city perks.
Of course, Breck is a must for skiing in the winter and hot-air ballooning, hang-gliding, hiking, mountain biking, etc. in the summer. That's my weekend home

Geo- I have been telling my friends for 2 years that I want a place in Henderson and they tell me I am crazy. Thanks for the support!
I would probably move to Wyoming. I just love the whole state.

There is some awesome property out here for the taking. My parents came to visit last weekend, and now I've been sent to house-hunt for them because they want to have a place here. That's how quickly this place will convert you

I second LMaz on Wyoming...I just love the cowboys! Actually, I visited Colorado for the first time last month and fell in love with it. If I don't end up in the Windy City, I'll probably move to Colorado if I can find a good job there.

I love Colorado, but I would really like to have the Ocean as well as the mountains. Alaska sounds nice too except that there are twice as many men as women and you have long periods of semidarkness and semilightness.

G35Girl,
You have to move to the Chicago area then, in fact, there are 4 homes in my subdivision for sale right now! We have 4 distinct seasons, a great Sushi restaurant in my town, and no cow dung smell around here! As far as a great hand car wash place, I'm still trying to find one in the Northwest Suburbs. MyG35ZX knows of one by him. He lives about 10 minutes north of me and he's yet to take me there (hint hint)! But all in all the Chi town area's pretty cool.
If I ever was to move somewhere to retire, it would probably be Florida. My folks live there now and I grew up going there as a kid. Although Vegas is cool too, I like the beaches and the smell of salt water in the air! Vegas area gets too damn hot in the summer. I was there when the thermometer outside a bank downtown read 123 degrees and the wind was blowing at about 30 MPH. A hairdryer blowing into my face was cooler than that!!!!

heh chippy... i'm done with chi-town. i lived there for 3 years for school. if i had to move back to illinois, i'd consider oakbrook or old orchard. lol yes, burbs and near the malls. oh and oak park. brings back memories of my days at doc ryan's and lalos. and i would avoid hinsdale at all costs. no dry towns for me.
