Spring 2008 Z/G Meet **Minnesota**
Spring 2008 Z/G Meet **Minnesota**
Dave and I have been talking about the spring meet. We want it to be bigger than our first meet of the year last year at hooters where we had 14 cars show. So we are going to start early so everyone can plan on it. Here is Dave's post from Tech
Steve and I have been mulling over a big meet for quite a while now, so we've decided to start an official thread to lay down some plans. We figured that if we plan this months in advance, people in the area can suggest places to meet, things to do, and plan their day on the calendar so they aren't surprised when the day comes.
I've been doing a lot of driving lately around the Twin Cities area, and every time I'm out I look for ideas and locations to bring our cars together. There are so many places to hang out at, so many scenic roads to drive, and just tons of businesses that would be happy to have us there.
One idea is to meet up at a rally point early on a Saturday, drive around some country roads for a few hours, then end up at Steve's house for a massive BBQ or grill party. Or we could take it into the cities and make stops at the major hot spots and cool parks to have a picnic there.
I know we had planned something in Hudson, WI last summer. Unfortunately, people were busy and couldn't make up their minds on when and what. So now we're going to start making some definite plans and stick to an event. I'm sure there'll be some kind of auto event in the spring. Maybe we can do a weekend thing at Brainerd.
Let's hear some ideas and suggestions. I'm thinking we should plan this big outing for late April or early May, depending on the weather and road conditions. Probably the biggest obstacle is that we need to pick a place and plan the event, then we can worry about the timing.

We've tried the MOA before. The problem is guys with body kits and lowered cars have problems with the ramps and speed bumps. We've been talking and we think for first meet we are going to go out for a drive then have a bbq so that way all the new guys have a chance to meet and mingle.

Been thinking that we can do a meet and caravan out to Rockfalls Raceway to see what our cars can do. The first import car race day is some time in April. After that, maybe we can head up north to Leine's Lodge where they do beer tours for Leinenkugel beer.
I also thought Ft Snelling park by the river and airport would be a good meeting point to start our day long drive.
Keep the suggestions coming.

Hey, I really like the sound of that. Especially since it's a bit closer for me, so count me in provided I'm available for the weekend you select...
One other idea if you are looking for something to do is karting or laser tag at action city (it's on 94 in Eau Claire and would be on the way to the Leine's from Rock Falls). Linky - http://www.actioncityfun.com/. They don't have the super fast karts, and there's always a lot of kids around, but an option to make more of a day out of it.
I would also suggest Manny's for lunch or dinner: http://www.mannysmexican.com/. I'll also check out some other options too.
I went to school for a bit in the cities and now live back in Wisconsin but I would be interested in joining in a meat up. I know mnsubaru had their big meet last year and drove from mpls to La Crosse Wisconsin and had a big meat up here. They had something like 80 or so cars make the trip.
Im gonna bump this, because i want more of you g guys to come.
Heres the info.
Saturday, April 26th - 8:00 / 8:30am
Meetup at Target Parking lot in Cottage Grove. (address in above post). Head down to Winona around 9am.
Regarding a restuarant - If it's alright with everyone there's a place called Jeffersons that is along the river downtown Winona. They have good food and good scenery plus they can accomodate a good amount of people depending on how many make it out. They also usually have good looking waitresses as well. I was thinking that I would take a head count a week before and then get us some reservations. There's a nice spot close by on the river that would make for a good photo as well.
