IL front license plate woes...
Of all things....
I just got pulled over on I74 around Peoria this morning for not having my front plate on my G. What drives me crazy is that I know people who haven't had a plate in front for years without issues, and I've barely had my plates for a month!
The State Trooper did tell me that they are starting to crack down on noncompliant cars - including window tint.
I ended up getting a clear contoured plastic bubble cover from Walmart that matches the opening really well. There's only about a 1/4 inch gap around the cover where it fits into the bumper, and it matches the shape of the bumper perfectly. Only about $5 too...

Re: IL front license plate woes...
I've driven around the Chicago area for the last 4 years with no front plate and have never been stopped (for that reason). However, many years ago, when I was a student down in Champaign, I did get stopped several times down there for no front plate. It may be the cops down there have more time on their hands.

Not what I was told when pulled over. My warning ticket specifically says noncompliant car, and the officer told me straight out that he pulled me over for not having the plate.
I know I wasn't speeding because I was following a pack of cars going into a construction zone and we had already gone way below the posted limit.
In addition to him telling me the reason for pulling me over, he also said that they're keeping a closer eye out for cars that don't comply with regulations.

I got pulled over also on I-355 in Woodridge for no front plates and he also told me my 35% front tints. I've seen darker tints and no front plates on Camry's, Jetta's and Firebird's. Luckily the officer let me go with a warning but said next time it'll be a $75 ticket

Re: IL front license plate woes...
I'm driving around the Peoria area with no front plate--for about 2 months now. No ticket yet. Will put the front plate on as soon as my new plates arive. Also, planning on getting nicely tinted plate covers for front and rear (should match black car well). Anybody know if tinted plate covers are illegal in IL? Checked on the IL DMV webpage, but found nothing.
