Goodbye to all...

Wanted to let you guys know that I traded in my beloved G. I bought a place downtown and did not want to pay the extra $200 a month for the underground valet parking in my building. So I got something I don't have to worry about parking in the street...a 2002 fully loaded Landrover (navigation, 12 speaker harmon Kardon, heated windsheild and mirrors, etc...). It only had 20k miles on it and I got it for a steal of $22,900 through a friend of mine at Mcgrath lexus. With the extra gas I will be saving still close to $400 a month. I got $29,000 for the trade in too which was the best compared to the other dealerships !!!

It was like I was living in the suburbs in a huge house and huge yard and owning a wonderful beautiful big dog that I loved named G. Now I moved into a small place in the city and the big dog is not happy in his confines so out of my love for G, it was best that I gave him to someone else to take care of him the way he needed to be. I loved that car and hopefully will move on to the GTR when it comes to the states. LOL and keep in touch.

Re: Goodbye to all...

..sorry to hear about your tragic loss. But I don't understand, you move into Chicago and buy a friggin LandRover?!?! Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car, but...as someone who lived in the city for a few years, I'm not sure that was the wisest move. You just made parking twice as hard for yourself. I owned a tiny Mistu Mirage when I lived in the city so I could park easily, and man am I glad I did. If I had owned a LandRover it wouldn't have been able to park in most of the places I did!

Hey Christian,

Sad to hear you got rid of your baby for a <s>soccer mom vehicle</s> SUV. All that room will come in handy when you're helping your friends move . I'd have to say I agree with Kdog ... why won't you worry about about parking a giant SUV on the street? It is just as succeptible to damage as any vehicle ... maybe you should look into getting some of those giant steel bars that wrap around your bumpers for those wonderful Chicago parkers .

Anyways, good luck with your new <s>gas guzzling, oversized,</s> luxury <s>monster</s> truck! Keep in touch bro!

Re: Goodbye to all...

Yeah, I hear you guys about the choice but I needed something to get me out of the snowed in street parking spots. Plus I don't care about it getting bumped or scratched like I did the G when I do finally find a parking spot. Let me know when you guys are either stuck in the snow, moving out, or your kids need a ride to soccer practice AND.... I will be thinking of you guys as I am filling up. So I will be thinking about you guys an awful lot! Later

Where did you get a place downtown? I'm moving to the city in the winter/spring (have not yet picked out a specific location) and am thinking about getting rid of the g for the same reasons, except I'll probably go an older a4 quattro.

Man, I am really sad to see you go. But you were always too busy to hang out anyhow..... .... Well, you can keep in touch and let us know how things are going. Also, please come to the auto show. It was a lot of fun.

I'm looking at getting a place in the loop as well, I don't think I'll be in the financial district, but it'd be nice... way too much $$
