Im moving to chicago in a couple days. I wanted to know if I would be able to drive my car in the winter, since its a whole different winter season up there than down here. Im curently dropped with 19 inch staggered wheels. Also have the aftermarket K2 front bumper. Are the roads clear enough that I wont tear up my car?

Yikes, good luck with that one! Have you ever watched the show 'Wrecked' that has been on tv the last couple of years?? You couldn't pay me enough money to want to live in that kind of climate. Southern Missouri is bad enough!

Get a winter beater and park the G.

It's certainly do able if you buy some different rims and Blizzaks, but its a huge pain. Plus with all the salt and your car being dropped you're going to have to wash it every few days.

I was born and Raised in Chicago...actually bought my G from Infinit Gold Coast in Downtown Chicago..(across the street from rock and roll mcdonalds....youll see if you ever go downtown) Needless to say i drove my stock g a few times in the snow there but that was just like 2inches of snow and i was in my stock all season tires...couldnt go up hill though...with that being said given your set up, and depending on where you actually live...i mean if you say chicago do you mean chicago? Alot of people say there from chicago but live like three freaking hours away in some small a$$ town which is not chicago...but n e ways yea i dont think you will be able to get around as soon as the snow hits....maybe while its snowing but not with the aftermath..unless the snow plow guys are out in full force but they you gotta worry about the salt and your g is just going to be mad dirty...i would invest on a little beater to get you around in the winter and just store the G till the snow is over...jmo

The roads are usually cleared pretty quickly. You will get stuck if you're parking on the street and will have to dig yourself in/out. There are maybe 5 or 6 days I can't drive during the winter on stock wheels with all seasons, you will have a hell of a time on summer tires with aftermarket wheels. The wider the tire the more you slip in the snow.

Moving to Chicago Reply
Hey I can certainly relate to that, I am looking for some winter tires now which you should start doing too. I've lived here my whole life and some winters aren't no joke! I hate snow but I am putting the G away for the winter and using my beater (crown Vic....). I will still drive it out when there is no snow..Hit me up if you need to. Anyone else here from Chicago hit me up maybe we can hit the streets and cruise one last time before it gets cold. laters! nani22305@yahoo.com

Well im moving back to des plaines, up north of chicago. I was raised there too, but when I was in jr high my step dad transfered to the south. ANYWAYS ME AND THE SOUTH DONT MIX, im tired of living here so Im moving back. Oh yea another reason, I told myself when I have a family Im not going to raise them in the south. When I moved down here I was 2 years ahead in school. Thats how slow the education is down here.
Plus theres no motivation down here its all ghetto and farms. I could deal drugs or have a farm. Atlanta is the only city in the south I liked when I went.

There's nothing wrong with a little farm work. It builds character!!

This of course is coming from a guy who was raised on the farm but lives in the city now. It's tough to pass up everything you want or need only being 5 minutes away.

In memphis its still from 9-5 and everything is 10-25 minutes away. I love chicago, walked down the street at night and saw a decent person walking as well. In memphis I would get stopped by a cop (even in the susburbs) and harrased or get mugged.
