There has been quite a few threads and thread offshots that mention having a possible meet for the MN area group. I think it's time this actually happens so I am starting this thread for the exact purpose of collecting names and ideas.


Considerations/Questions:

What Date?: more general for now - day of week, time of day, etc

What to Do?: just a meet, cruise, dinner, event (tie into a show or other event)

Where to Meet?: somewhat goes with the what to do, but we need to have a location at a minimum.

Who Sets Up?: somebody has to coordinate, I'm trying by starting the dialog and can help, but since I'm not in the area it will be tough so need help with details.


If there is enough interest and ideas perhaps we can take it to the next step.



NOTE - This is designed to be an early planning tool for such an event, as I know there are other talks about rolling down to the Chicago meet, etc. This is one to be held in Minneapolis area (most options, most likely G owners, central location for MN, and you get WI folks too).

 

I think that we should do it during the week sometime, like a Wednesday night. That way we can get an Infiniti dealership involved. They can show up and sponsor the event. They can bring the '05 Coupe / sedan, FX and M45 sport for their good, and then we get to see and test drive the new infiniti line up.

joe sensors is always good, but meeting somewhere with a big lot is essential. Eating and drinking isn't that big of a deal for me so a Best Buy wouldn't be bad either.

I would say the 3rd or 4th wednesday in May. Either that or tie it into a big car show. We could coordinate this with the Z people as well to get a really big VE platform meet.

Finding an event sponsor is key, so Best Buy / infiniti / Nissan, something that we can have fun with. It would be really neat to get a half dozen Infiniti Tech's there to do warranty check ups and schedule appts with the shops. It's good for us (getting our rides looked at and fixed), and good for them (they make a mint off warranty work and can gain customers for life). Renting a dyno for a day would be a blast too.

We could do it the day before the drive to chicago...

Just some ideas.

 

The only problem with doing sponsors, major events and the like is that you need to have some realistic projection on attendance and in some cases may need to put up money ahead of time. Maybe if we can turn this into an annual thing with a track record of good attendance, but for the first one it needs to be simple.

Something simple could be attend an event (car show, car museum, pro karts, etc) then lunch and cruise (perhaps to a dealer for photos). However, the only cool show coming up is Autovations in August. Also I was thinking of doing Pro Kart would be cool, but to reserve the track requires cash commitment. We could just show up during arrive and drive, but can't be sure the group goes at once.

Saturday I think is best because dealers are still open, you have the whole day, and more people should be able to make it.

Certainly other options are cruise to a winery (we do it with local club here and it's a nice setup), cruise to Duluth, cruise to show outside of Twin Cities, meet at dragstrip in Eau Claire, heck even a casino.

Just stiring the pot....

 

This group might be to young, but there is onFriday and Saturday nights all kinds of cars cruise up and down University. We could gather at the lot that is connected to the Wendys and cruise to downtown Minn. just a thought.

A z owner installed his z tube in my g on Sunday. I am about to order the pulley and JWT.

 

If some of you locals could get together that would be good, so there will be a group that already met for what I think should be the major meet, the Zoom show at Morries Nissan. I'm still getting details, but this is a Nissan event at a Nissan dealership. Could be the show tie in we've been looking for. An easy and appropriate first meet on June 25.

At least this will give some of us a chance to meet and view cars at this Nissan show. Maybe some of you could even be in the show? After the show those interested could cruise someplace for dinner?

 

350Z / G35 Cruise:

I am planning on being in the cities May 17th... Let's have a Minneapolis G cruise around 7PM. Meet up at one of the parks... Then take off and cruise the lakes and then the freeways a little and then a Downtown cruise. Any input would be awesome. We can get as many G's and Z's there as possible.

 

I'm down for this meet! Keep us posted. In fact, I'll just watch and wait.

 

Do you guys ever meet further East? The Dells would be a decent place, especially during the summer. I am from Milwaukee and can't find anyone around here that does anything.

 

I would love to meet up, but not sure I can on that date because of work. I will keep watching for details and try to make it.

Man I'd love to attend a cruise/meet with a bunch of G's and Z's. It'd be cool just taking pictures of so many awesome cars at once. Plus we can share ideas and check out other people's mods to see if it works for us. It'd be great!
Unfortunately May 17th probably won't work for me. But I'll check back here to see if you guys come up with a date that will work.

 

I'm planning on dropping the G coupe off at one of the dealers for some work on wednesday morning (5.18) and have not made my appointment yet, which one should I go to... The only one I know how to get to is the one at the 35 494 intersection. I think that is Lupient... I am going ot have them do the position sensor recall and my brakes under warranty, and chase down a couple other things. Who do you guys bring your s too?

 

The one at 35 & 494 is Luther's Infiniti. I go to Lupient in Golden Valley because I bought my car there. I think either one should provide good service. Go to the one closer to you.

 

So how does the north parking lot of Lake Calhoun sound to you guys? When I lived in So Mpls, I used to go blading around there and the place was hot for cars, bikes, and women (and guys for you ladies). I've seen many an exotic car cruising around the lake. It's perfect for showing off, especially if the weather is warm enough.

 

That would be awesome. I saw a 360 ferarri there once. Took a bunch of pictures and this lady walks by with her dog and is all... "It's like he's never seen and F ing Ferarri before hmm." SOunds like a cool place to meet up.
