Raced a Camaro SS!!!
This is a repost from the Sedan General section for all you Chi town folks who own coupes... Just want to show off a little more lol!!!
Hi all,
Just a quick post here which I put uup in a few other posts today just as bragging rights. Came to a stoplight today and a 2001 Camaro SS pulls up next to me. Killed my AC and radio and the light turns green. We both go and the Camaro punches it. I stay right along side up to 65 MPH!!!! This car has a 346CI or 5.7 liter V8 based on the 2001 Corvette engine!!! I kept up with him and got a lot of thumbs up from them! I should have been smoked as the SS does 0-60 in 5.2! There were 2 passengers in the car as well as the driver. I didn't smoke him. I didn't get smoked either. I'd say this was a good accomplishment for the G as the SS is truly american muscle!

I used to be a Chevy owner and I know those SS' are killers on the street. I'd be very surprised if you kept up with him. I pulled on a 350Z and slowly crept by him at 120. Id like to see the specs/times on track slips. That would be very interesting

I would agree Chippy. The guy had to be a bad driver. The G is sweet, but that American muscle is awsome.I believe you were right there with him. I just sold my LS1 all allum V8 1998 Chevy Corvette with 410 HP 1 on week ago. I pick my 04 Carib Blue coupe up this Sat. My Mods are all stacked in the garage waiting.......

I just traded in my '01 SS a few weeks ago for a g35C. I loved the SS, but wanted something a little more "nicer". Please don't take this the wrong way, but he must have either been a bad driver or egging you on. My '01 SS dynoed 312 rwhp 'bone stock' with only 2,000 miles on it and no mods. It was at a Camaro dyno day and the other 2 '01 SS's dynoed 309 rwhp, and one of them dynoed 317 rwhp! (factory freak). Like I said, I don't doubt your story, I just doubt he knew how to drive the camaro. (flame suite on )
