Need rim repair shop
Need rim repair shop
I just got a flat tire on my rear passenger side and the inner flange of the rim was bent.
I ordered a new 235/50R17 tire from Discount Tires for $155. Does anyone know of a rim repair shop around the Naperville Aurora area? I know Transwheel can repair it for $125 but they are inconveniently located up in Elk Grove Village. I haven't driven the G for 2 days, I'm so depressed.

Dude,
Sorry to hear! I got a flat too 3 days ago! Unfreakinreal!!! Nail right in the flat of tire and a bump forced it out. Rode it home without air from work without knowing it and the inner sidewall looked like a teens face with a heavy acne problem. Never saw anything like that before - all bumped up and out of place! Luckily no rim damage. Bought a new stock Goodyear RS-A for $194.00 from the Lake Zurich Goodyear store. Got the "Made in USA" one which doesn't match the OEM "Made in Japan" ones on my other 3 wheels but it's identical in size and DOT'ed. I got lucky not bending the rim - you can't tell when the rear tires go flat - and this was the rear passenger one! I got the new tire the same day and installed was $224.00 total. All web sites are backordered on it!
Regarding your topic, I have one rim with a small scar on it from a bad parallel park. I haven't fixed it yet becasue it's not that noticable and if I ever go to different rims, it won't be worth repairing it. I heard that dealers will do rim repair. Did you check with the dealer where you bought it? You might want to. They usually have connections to this sort of thing. I know Motorwerks in Barrington has a outfit that does it. If you can't find anything, call 1-800-motorwerks. Another midwester had damage from the Motorwerks car wash and they fixed his rim for him at no charge becasue they messed it up so I know they have an outfit that does it or at least know of one!

Re: Need rim repair shop
Wow, coincidence?!?!!? I too got a medium scratch on my front-pasenger rim this past Thursday. I'm thinking of taking a dremel tool to smooth it out and buying some matching paint from a hobby store. I'll try that first to see how it turns out.
Re: Need rim repair shop
Sal, the man who won't expose his G to the element of rain got a scratched rim??? You must be busting out with anger! Sorry to hear! Let me know if the dremel repair goes well and if so, I may employ you to fix mine if that's OK!!!

Yep, I try not to drive it in the rain but mother nature has caught me a couple of times. The scratch, being as unnoticeable as it is still does hurt, but hopefully I can "McGiver" some solution. If my plan works then I'll be happy to fix your wheel also....and anybody elses
