I'm planning to be in Chicago on the 23rd and 24th of June and I was wondering if there are any car events/meets scheduled for that weekend. I'd really like to see some of the cars up that way and meet some of the members too.

 

I'm not sure if we're having anything for that weekend. However, if you're still aorund on Saturday, JGTCA, another club around here that I am a part of will be having a weekly meet. I will be there and possibly a few other G's.

BTW, will trey be coming too? He seems like a cool guy and would like to meet him in person as well.

 

I'll be there on Friday(23) and Saturday(24) so I'm up for most anything as long as I can find it. Unfortunately it is only me coming up. Sorry, but someone has to stay home and babysit. He will be taking his own weekend before too long so maybe you guys can talk him into coming up to visit.

What's the track scene like up that way? I would LOVE to get a few runs down a 1/4 (or even an 1/8) with some different conditions, etc than we deal with here. Does anyone have test and tune on Friday nights there?

I can't plan that far ahead...my wife holds the keys to the social calendar. I'd like to meet up though if the local guys/girls are up for it.

The tracks around here are in the "country"...quite a drive from the Chicago area actually. A few of our members are big track nuts but I think they go to Wisconsin...

 

I'd have liked to meet you as well. Don't you have a responsible teenager in your neck of the woods to watch the rug rats?

 

Wow, I'm starting to think maybe I was one of the 'cool' folks in highschool afterall. J/k of course.

We don't have the opportunity to leave the kid with anyone for more than one night very often. As such, we try to keep those events to things that are special; anniversaries, etc.

Hhhmmm....what does "out in the country" mean? lol We drive almost 2 hours to the closest 1/4 mile track so unless I end up with a time crunch the drive isn't an issue. I'm most likely staying with my friend in Calumet City but I'm not afraid to drive around so long as I have good directions.

 

There is a drag strip called US41 that is pretty good. It is located out in Indiana, about an hour from Chicago I believe. I'll look into a few options and get back to you. If you just want to meet up with a few of us just to cruise that's fine as well.

 

Hmmm...I wonder if that means it is relatively close to my friend's place? You can almost throw rocks at Indiana from where they are IIRC. LOL!
