How to get the new Car? Help?

OK heres the deal, I just bought a new g35 6mt and cant wait to drive it. The only problem is I bought it in dallas which is about 5 hours away (as I live in San Antonio). getting over there is no problem and i wont mind the drive back. But since its a brand new car, isnt it bad to run the same RPMs for an exessive amount of time for the break in? I heard the best way to break in a car is to take it around town in small streets and letting the RPMs fluctuate, but I dont see how i can do that. This may sound like a dumb question but any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

It's not the best way to start a break-in, but so long as you don't drive too fast, don't drive at a steady speed, and don't use the cruise control, you'll be fine.

G/L and enjoy the new ride.

C.

^ Why'd you break in two G35's? Did not following the rules break the first one, resulting in buying the second? jk I wouldn't worry too much about the 4 hours drive, which is what...about 3-400 miles? Look on the brighter side, you'll be 400 miles closers to the break-in period!

TIP: when you get home, change the oil!! I change the oil on my new vehicles in the first 100 miles! The first time I did it was after reading a LONG article on break in procedures and many aspects of new manufacturing. Anyway, I changed the oil at 60 miles on my new motorcycle last year. It was SILVER! It looked like anit-sieze compound, no $h!t. I changed, ran it for a few minutes and changed it again just to get all the super fine metal suspended in the oil from initial break in out!

Change the oil as soon as possible after this drive, you'll be glad you did as you will see it before it turns black and hides it's contents from you.

That's a good write-up! But in a car you have more things to break in besides the engine. Transmission in a car is more sophisticated than in a bike. Bikes do not have rear differentials, etc.

I totally agree on the thing Motoman keeps on saying: WARM UP THE ENGINE!!! I do that even on test drives no matter what dealer is trying to tell me
