+1...the Infiniti/Nissan auto mpg calc is a bit optimistic.

In my case, I never get on the highway. As far as calculating MPG, I get around 200 miles per tank and I fill up 16 gallons/tank. That is around 12.5 MPG. I don't have Navi.

One time I drove around 40 miles on the highway and the needle didnt move at all on the gauge. I guess if I did highway driving, I would get a much better MPG.

I drive my G the same way I drove my Lexus IS300. Daily commute is the same. Using www.fueleconomy.gov's new vs. old rating search the IS300's old is 18/25 combined 21 and new is 16/23 combined 19. I averaged 18-19mpg usually. Some city highway driving but mostly city streets.

That same site for the G has 19/26 combined 22 for old mpg and 17/24 combined 20 for new mpg. I have broken 17mpg ONCE on a fillup at 3200 miles. Otherwise, I'm consistently around 16 mpg according to the computer and the two times I did it by hand, the hand calculation came up .5mpg higher than the computers. So gas mileage on this thing really sucks.

I rationalize it by telling myself that I only drive 8000 or so miles per year

I'm at 20.2 avg MPG. I'm do about 50/50 highway/city driving. I don't have a heavy foot, but I don't drive like a grandma. Maybe just the break-in period? (although I only hav 1600 miles on mine, and i've had it about 3 months).

12,000 miles per year is 900 gallons of gas, so I figure about $2700 per year in fuel costs. That's $225 per month - almost half the $499 lease payment. Plus $100 per month in insurance - a grand total of $824 per month to drive the car. I'm glad parking is free.

I've got 9000 miles on the odo, and my averages are 18 city, 25 highway, and my average is 19.5 to 20.5 mpg. This is from comparing what the comp says every time i put gas in, and me doing the math from my odometer and gas receipts.

I got 20 mpg on my first tank. I drive about 40/60 highway/city driving. I tried to start using cruise a lot around the half a tank mark and saw my mpg increase significantly according to the car mpg display.

I only drive the car 5-6K miles a year so 12 MPG isn't that bad although gas is like $3.80/gallon here.
