I'm here, I'm new
I'm here, I'm new
Well, it's been a week since I bought a pristine silver/gray 05 AT sedan with sunroof, sport pkg, and 30K miles. This is our "family car" (although we've only got one teenager left at home) replacing an 01 X5 money pit. Impressions so far:
What an engine! What a beautiful factory exhaust note!
Throttle response is first class.
This car feels much lighter than you would expect; very tossable, especially with the "sport-tuned" suspension; easy and fun to get the tail out.
Whoever designed the suspension deserves a raise.
The AT seems every bit as good as the X-mobile.
Like the looks. Uncluttered. Sleek. Shouldn't age that much.
This car is for 4 adults, not 5.
Interior well-designed but some materials feel cheap. Not a big deal to me.
Needs no modifications, as far as I can tell. This will be my first car in many years that I didn't lower immediately.
Bargain, bargain, bargain for what you get.
I hope it's reliable.
As a basis for comparison, "my other car" is a 2004 5-speed M3 coupe, modded to the hilt. The G35 stands up VERY well -- not as thrilling to drive hard, but I when I drive the G35 I don't find myself longing for the M3.
I'm looking forward to learning more about the car. I'm sure I'll have questions for the group as time passes.

Thanks

It is far from complete but a lot of fun.
