Sorry for being rude
How rude of me to have started this thread - and then disappear for a couple of weeks. Suffice it to say it's been a hectic couple, and thankfully didn't have anything to do with the car. Actually, I didn't drive it from Wednesday last week through Sunday this week.
Regardless, this is one helluva fun car to drive.
A car meet for those in NC sounds like a good idea. I also think that a drive through the mountains would be great, but wonder if we might be best off arranging something more centrally located.
Anyhow, just a thought.

I'm in Apex. I believe that I've seen Huntersville, Raleigh, Cary, and Charlotte as other user's locations. Now that Ann's and I have uncloaked I believe that there is just one more "North Carolina" location to chime in. At least based on the current replies.
I won!
Get this...my son encouraged me to place my G in a car show today. I won the import class...$100. However, I cannot tell too tall a tale. My only competition was a 1967 VW Beetle. But, it was still fun. Hope everyone is well.
What are the North Carolinians G35s going to do for winter regarding tires. Are y'all going to keep runnin' with the 18" tires which may or may not perform well in the winter? Or are you going to swap them out? I am on the fence since I do not want anyone changing my tires yet! The tire guy says down here you can run with the potenza's due to the somewhat warmer winters we have.

Ann's - Congrats on the win. What show was that?
Lunch - I'm currently planning on sticking with the OEM tires since they are predicting this winter will be milder than recent years (which surely means we're gonna get a 2 foot snowfall
). If I had to consider something else I'd probably go with All Season tires. Either a set of the Goodyear's that are the same as the OEM size, or a set of 17" matched that are All Season on a second set of wheels.

Lunch - I just bought a set of '07 OEM 17's with Goodyear's mounted from another member. I'm probably going to swap them out in a few weeks once it gets a little colder.
Woltig - You're right the winters don't seem to be too bad around here, but the OEM Potenzas can get a bit slick when the temps drop.

Yeah, I'm trying to be sensitive to the "summer compound not suitable for winter use" issue. I really don't want to be in a situation where liability becomes an issue (or a claim is denied) due to improper equipment.
Please keep us posted on how those 17"ers work on your S. Of the options I'm entertaining that's the one I prefer the most. Either OEM from someone looking to dump a set or aftermarket - but in 17" to save a little dough for partial year use.
What size are your Goodyears?

Woltig...sorry for the belated response. The car show was a benefit for the Shriners in Monroe.
Guys, I have never considered changing tires in the winter. I've got the Bridgestones on 18's.
Question: Do any of you "slip" when coming off a stop? I know that sounds crazy....but my G slips when I have to push a few more horses to get out in traffic. This makes me a bit uncomfortable...mainly because I wonder what would happen if I really pushed it out into traffic. I've been so used to front wheel drive. Is this a common rear wheel condition?
