08 G35S 6MT USA 2 CAN - Need help with daytime running lights
I just joined this forum as I am in the processes of taking delivery of a USA 2008 G35 6MT, premium package, platinum on black (importing it to Canada). I think these forums are an invaluable resource and look forward to contributing.
In the interim, would anyone know the best place in and around Buffalo to have this modification completed? I was quoted $450.00 CDN to have it done locally in Ontario. Is it possible that the necessary parts can be purchased through Infiniti and installed by a DIYer?
Thanks
Post in the Canadian section someone is bound to know.
Could you post the details of where you purchased your vehicle and all the costs involved in importing it?
I am thinking of purchasing the same car and importing it next spring.
One other question: did you have to change the cluster to metric or can this be changed through the vehicles computer somehow?
(I have family member that owns a CTS and it can be changed through the settings of the computer)

I will let you know after the vehicle is imported next week. My understanding is that the speedo is fine with primary as imperial and secondary as metric. With respect to the odometer, I was told that this could be handled internally by designating the units that you wished displayed. I will verify after mine goes through the inspection process.
Thanks for the reply please post back with all the details involved with importing the vehicle.
Did you find a mechanic that activated the DRLs?
Do a search of the Canadian section I remember someone did the modification themselves and posted the details.

Hi eye eye,
I am also very interested in bringing a US G35 back to Canada, please let us know how your experience went with the DRLs/Can Tire inspection. Also I would eager to know if I could change the displays to metric from inside the car...
Thanks!

I had my DRLs done in Buffalo, on the way back. I booked an appointment at D&R Automotive, who installed the DRL module professionally within 30 minutes. The local Infiniti dealership in Buffalo sends this modification to them. The cost was $145.00 USD, taxes included. I just returned from having Canadian Tire inspect the car (2 minutes total), as nothing needed to be altered. The car is now fully registered/plated for Ontario.
The G's speedometer shows MILES as primary units, and KILOMETERS as secondary units. This perfectly acceptable. The odometer, and all other trip information (gas consumption) can be easily changed by the driver to show metric units (even without looking it up in the user manual - it's simple).
With the speedometer showing MILES as primary, it simply takes a few drives to associate miles to kilometers and pick an appropriate speed (in MILES) to drive/cruise at (as your eyes normally key in on the larger numbers). It's really not an issue, as most of the time, my speed is pegged at what traffic is flowing at.
Overall, the process was painless, and very beneficial to me in both the bank account, and the fun factor (as I purchased much more car than I could have imagined had I spent the my money in Ontario). If you need more detailed info, pm me.
