Hi G35 diyers: advice for amateurs?
Greetings, everyone! Here's a little background about me:
My VW sedan was totaled when I got rear-ended almost 2 months ago, and I've been searching for a replacement sedan ever since. After spending countless hours visiting private sellers and dealerships, we came across the newer (2007+) G35 sedans, and immediately fell in love with them. Unfortunately, we eventually came to the conclusion that they're out of our budget.
So, we then decided to check out the older (eg, 03-04) G35 sedans. Hopefully this doesn't offend anyone, but I have to be brutally honest: We found these older sedans to be straight up fugly.
At that point, we pretty much gave up on the G35s...until I came across this website! I was BLOWN AWAY by how SHARP these older sedans can look after various components are modified/customized! (Forgive my excitement, but I have zero prior experience with modding.) Anyways, to top it off, based on the various postings I've read so far on this board, it seems like its members are unusually generous with sharing advice, tips, tricks, etc...even **** like service manuals and DIY videos!
So, this past Sunday, the wife & I went G35 hunting once again, and bought a silver 04 sedan. I intend to do some modifications (eg, Nismo bumper, tint, etc) as soon as funds permit, and I'm looking forward to it! I just hope I don't screw anything up.

Congrats, heftylefty58, on your purchase of an '04 G Sedan. You will not regret it. Welcome to the 'Driver boards. You have come to the right spot on the internet.
Yes, the new generation of Sedans are quite the car. However, as you already know, the first generation Sedans can hold their own. Here in NorCal, as with many other regions, we have quite a few of the earlier Sedans, which look fantastic. The pride of ownership really shows in these cars.
Enjoy your new ride. I am looking forward to seeing pics of your G, as you progress with the mods.

Compared to my older maxima, the G is actually EASIER to modify. And depending on how savy you are, CHEAPER. ie.. using Coupe or Z springs/shocks. OEM coupe 19s fit, buying used parts can be sourced from not only here but the Z forums (engine mods are swappable).
