New '04 G owner
New '04 G owner
Picking it up in Dallas tomorrow and driving back to Houston. I recently sold my '98 M-B C230, so I am very excited about my "new" car. I'm also looking forward to participating in these forums to learn more about Gs.
The car I am buying checked out very well, but there is one thing that concerns me. The dealer put new tires on it a couple of days before I finalized the deal and sent me the specs on them last night. Hankook Optimos 225/50/17 93S. I've checked these tires out and they seem to be OK (OEM for some GM sedans), but the S speed rating has me concerned..... I don't plan on driving 120mph+, but would S rated tires compromise the handling/braking of the car?

Hi Austen, and welcome to the Driver. Post some pics of your new G when you get time. I noticed you are from Houston? Check out the Regional forums too. Especially the South: https://g35driver.com/forums/south-40/. I bought mine in Dallas too.
Also, check this sub-forum re: your tire question. If no answer post a new thread. Someone will have your answer! https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-tires-25/
Good luck!

It's taken me awhile to post again. Did fly up to Dallas on the 23rd, looked the car over and bought it. Its a one owner '04 sedan - grey with graphite interior. 49K miles. Drove it from the dealer straight to Firestone for some new Potenzas and an oil change. I couldn't stand the thought of those S rated tires squishing around the corners. Drove the car back to Houston that night. Great drive home! Smooth, quiet, powerful. The 5 hours in the seat gave me ample opportunity to check everything out.
I've already purchased a few eBay items: new key fob, cargo net, mats, filters, paint touch up. I'll try and post some pics this weekend!

Well 3 months into ownership and I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park! The odo just turned 50K miles… so far I have done (or had) the following done:
· New tires (Bridgestone Potenzas)
· Front/rear brakes (disks & rotors)
· New belts
· Transmission dump and fill
· 4 wheel alignment
· Oil change
· Engine air filter
· Cabin air filter
The car checks out and is running great. Is there anything else I should be proactive on in terms of maintenance? The dealer said the rear diff should be changed and the fuel system needs a flush... Is he digging or are these things I should seriously consider?

Welcome to 'Driver
I would have waited till the tires went out unless the dealer offered to replace them or you got new wheels.
Did you get a coupe or sedan? I just got a call from my local Infiniti dealer that there's a part recall on the fuel line for my coupe (also an 04). I'm trying to get more details and will post them up in the appropriate section. That said, it might effect sedans as well, I don't know yet.
