Just bought an OB 2005 G35
Hello to those of you who check the "Newbie" forum!
I've been using this site as a reference point for the past month or so while I was looking in to buying a used car. I can't say enough about the majority of the information presented here, it's really helped me in my search.
I just went out and bought a 2005 Obsidian Black G35 Coupe. Yes, it is a 6 MT. It's been a long ... hard fight to try and find one of these cars with a 6 speed within my price range here in Georgia. As a matter of fact I managed to buy it off a gentleman that lives a bit west of Montgomery Alabama.
Regardless, I got it. I couldn't be happier. I'm coming from driving a 1995 Honda Accord 2 door coupe for the last seven years, and that was a manual as well. They're great reliable cars, but it's time for something new!
This G35 came with:
• Custom / Aftermarket Exhaust
• Strut bar
• Air intake
• Stillen Clutch
• Tinted windows
• Harmon Kardon iPod interface.
• And literally every other factory option (Navi, Bose, etc)
I'm still trying to figure out the exact makes of the customized hardware, once I do I'll update my profile with that information. Whatever exhaust it is, it sounds freaking fantastic.
I've been trying to come up with a saying for how it feels to drive this car. The best I've come with so far, to explain the sheer thrill is, "It's like having a gigantic delicious cake made out of butter, only the cake is also Jessica Alba. And you're having sex with it."
I've got to work on that one a bit more...
Anyway... pics. I haven't had a chance to wash and wax it just yet, but I couldn't resist taking a few pics of it. (Kind of a crappy camera)

It has about 58,500 miles on it.

The previous owner got it with 22,500 miles on it about 2 years ago. He mainly drove it from about an hour west of Montgomery Alabama to Atlanta Georgia (the airport to be exact).

Oh yeah. I didn't mention this before because honestly, I didn't know what it was (hadn't had time to search around yet). Apparently this thing has a grounding kit on it as well. As to what type of grounding kit (if it matters), I'm not sure.
I'm still obviously quite new to car modifications, especially with imports. Granted I have minimal experience watching a few of my friends mod out S-10s, and a 1970 Chevelle (performance mods).
Side note: That 70 Chevelle? Damn. That thing was fast off the line.
I've honestly had the idea of "function > form" beaten in to me over the years, but this car really doesn't need much more "function". I mean, it's obviously as fast as I need it to be (for the moment).. and it's freaking gorgeous.
Thanks for the welcome!

These all sound good in theory:
"5/16 spacer, MREV2, front lip"
I'm on the fence about the spoiler and a drop. I'm not really sure a drop is a great idea for a daily driver. Especially considering some of the pot holes and idiotic DOT crap we see around here. Also, if I were to do that I'd prefer to get a new set of wheels and tires before hand, then throw in the drop.
Right now I love the back end of this car, so a spoiler may have to wait for a while.
The wheels and tires on this thing right now are in pretty good shape. The tires have at least 20,000 miles left on them, so I'm thinking about just keeping these wheels for a while. Considering the fact that I drive 12,000 miles at most a year, it'll be a little while before I need new tires.
In spite of all this, it's really a concern of money at the moment. The car is paid off (paid cash), but other bills still exist. Unless I find a roommate here soon, the progress on this thing will be slow.

Alright, I think this thing may have a spacer already. Considering that I'm still very new to this engine, I didn't notice it at first. I looked at the engine from the side a bit earlier today and was surprised to see what looks like a plenum spacer.

Then I checked a co-worker's 2003 G35 and noticed that his didn't have it. The cover on mine was much more angled then his as well. Granted, that may have to do with the intake itself. Can anyone verify if this is a plenum spacer? It looks a lot like what I've seen searching these forums and using Google image search.
I noticed that the intake is a "Weapon R". As to which model it is, I couldn't say.

Getting a pic of the strut bar is a bit interesting, it's located under the car. I'll see if I can grab that a bit later.
Here's just a straight shot of the engine. Yeah, it's a bit dirty. I'll be cleaning that this weekend.

The exhaust perplexes me as well, I can't tell who makes this one. There doesn't seem to be any brand name that I can see.

The exhaust looks to be an XO2 exhaust...very similar to the HKS exhaust...
And I am not sure, but it does look as though you have a spacer but not sure which one...you would have to remove the plenum to tell
And strut bars do not go under the car...you may be referring to a sway bar or chassis brace...if you had a strut bar it would go on top of where the struts are and across the top of your engine
