Upgraded from an 09 Lancer to an 06 G35..

Sup gents,

As far as introductions go, the title says it all, I traded in my 09 Lancer GTS with about $1200 in mods on it for a bone stock (as far as performance is concerned) 06 G35 Coupe.

The dealership I picked it up from put Advanti Raving rim's on it with a huge offset. Since I don't know the real specs of the rims I'll just list the tire size. F: 245/40/R18 and R:285/35/R18. Gives the car a nice aggressive look if you ask me, not like it doesn't already have one.

I'm a Marine living in J-Vegas, NC, just waiting to get the hell out now and move back up to the MD area and start a new life. Definitely looking forward to getting some more power to the wheels over coming months.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't waste your time with bolt ons. Supercharge it or turbo it!

I've heard that the VQ's bottom end isn't the most reliable in the world. Before I do any type of forced induction applications I want to rebuild most of the motor with better parts. That and I don't really want to go all out with this car. I'd like to do as much as I can, both internally and with bolt-on's, without changing the factory fuel system. I'd like to keep what gas mileage I can.

Actually the bottomm end's pretty stout. red35 here in Alberta is running TT and 480whp on a stock block. Of course, built is better.

Really? I'll have to do a little looking into that. Apparently I've got the VQ that's a step above first gen and a step below the latest RevUp with it's 7500k redline. The search button is only yielding limited results here.

The vq is capable, but the longevity is always up for question. It could last , but better to be safe then sorry and build up first. Anyways welcome to the forums, and i also recommend searching around my350z.com . They will have much more results on forced induction . Goodluck man!
