New member, still looking for my G

Been trolling the forum for a few months now, just signed up recently. Just about ready to make a purchase but need to save up for another month or so first. I can't wait though, I'm driving a '98 Civic turd now. I can't wait to get rid of this crap ricer-wannabe for some class. Then I'll really be able to get those teenagers from the mall. Ha!

But seriously, I've been looking for so long, and I am so close to making a purchase, it's hard to keep waiting. I guarantee that I will have one before the snow falls though, and you all will be the first to see pics.

What I am looking for is 05-06, coupe, 6MT. Most of the best deals I've found so far seem to be either sedans, 5AT, or both. Apparently everyone with the specs I'm after love their cars too much.

I've seen your car in the Marketplace section, but unfortunately it is a bit out of my price range. It's totally worth the price, but unfortunately I'll probably have to buy something a bit more stock. I should be saving longer, but I can't drive this turd of a civic for another winter. Plus, I've got someone who wants to buy it, so I think I'll have to settle for now and upgrade later. Would love to have it though, very clean, and I really like the wheels with the OB.

Thanks. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger, been thinking about it/researching for so long now. Patience is hard.

Found it, buying it tomorrow. 2006, IP, manual, 17.5k, 63k miles. Have to fly to NJ to pick it up, will post pics when I get back and get a chance. After I clean the drool off of course.

Well, I got it, but it was a terrible drive home. On the plus side, it has a Nismo cold air, looks like perhaps Injen exhaust, Skunk2 plenum, and coilovers (didn't check brand yet). Oh man, it sounds great! Someone from the dealership picked me up from the airport, I drove back. It felt good, sounded good, I was happy. Other than a little wheel rash (stock 19" rays) and a couple scuffs on the bumper (which I'm replacing anyway), there wasn't anything too bad. The grill was painted and it needs to be redone, and the leather on the driver's seat by the seatbelt is worn (common problem), but that's about all I noticed.

Well, I took some things for granted. I didn't do quite as thorough of a check due to my trust in the research I did on this car (CarFax, accucheck), coming from a dealer, my mechanical aptitude, and the wealth of knowledge on this forum. As such, somewhere close to 200 miles into my drive, while stuck in Pennsylvania road construction, my TPMS light came on, which made me notice that now the ABS, SLIP, and VDC OFF were all on too. Great. Pulled over at a rest stop, checked my wheels/tires, everything looked ok but it was dark. Took a nap, drove for a while, but when I stopped to get gas, I noticed black soot and what appeared to be a ton of dirt on my rear wheels. Upon further inspection, I noticed the tread on the rear wheels was being shaved off. Apparently I've got a problem with my traction control system. I've seen some other threads relating to this, so I will put my research hat on in a minute, but I was in a bad spot. Nobody was open because it was Saturday afternoon, nobody carries 19" tires in stock, and the majority off all the locals I could talk to couldn't even tell me where an Infinity dealership would be (other than hours away in some major city). So, to make a long story, umm, not quite as long, I had to drive the remaining 400 or so miles on non-freeways, trying to keep below 60 mph, and between 2-3k on the tach. Oh, that sucked the worst, having all this power, beautiful exhaust note, and I had to drive like grandma on the way to bingo.

All in all though, I still think I got a deal (hopefully don't have any more issues like this). It just sucked because I was so far from home and everything was closed. Not to mention this car cost 10 times my previous POS. I just can't wait to open this baby up and !

Well, for the most part, it ended up being an alignment and a bad speed sensor. All told, a little over $500 in parts and labor, can't complain with that, getting it back tomorrow. Can't wait to see what she's got! (within reason, of course)

Welcome man, enjoy the G35.

Did you get a pre-purchase inspection done before you bought the coupe?

Um, yeah, about that...

No. I took some things for granted. One, it was coming from a dealership, and my car was not even close to being one of the nicest ones there; two, I checked the carfax and accucheck for the car and both were clean; three, I have a strong mechanical aptitude; and four, the vast wealth of knowledge on this forum. And, I guess I just try to have a bit of trust and confidence. I try to be aware of any signs, and go with what feels right. It usually does me good, although looking at the brighter side of situations goes a long way too.

^ Oh, well hope it all works out for you. Oil consumption on the 6MT can be a pain, if you haven't had it checked out yet.
