Hello! Newb checking in! Need some help!

Hey guys, i just registered on the forum because ive been interested in purchasing a g35 coupe. I've checked out a few posts here and it looks like this is a very friendly community and wanted some advice for my new purchase.

I was basically wondering what years were the best years for the g35? What are major/minor or common problems with these cars?(if there is anything specific i should look for when purchasing one) Just the basics really.

I drive a 1991 240sx and a 1995 3000GT, so I was looking to upgrade to something more reliable and modern lol. Thanks for your time!

Im based in San Antonio, TX also.

Same old same old. People ask same questions every day. Learn to search for the love of god.

03-07 automatics - all the same(drive train wise)
03-05 terrible interior/worse headlights and tailights are also different
06-07 better interior/better headlights/better tailights
06-07 MT - revup engine - higher redline / higher hp / less TQ

Check for compression rod bushings(noise from the front end). Check for a clicking axle sound from the rear(infamous rear axle clinking).

Can't go wrong with a 06-07. You will get the better headlights and taillights. If you buy an 03-05 you will end up upgrading all your light like I did. I dislike the interior in the 03-04 but 05-07 have better interior. Ignore some of the people that are on here they can be real ***'s sometimes.lol Hope that helps.

Welcome to the family from a fellow Texan. Do yourself a favor and read through the stickied threads at the top of the coupe section. you will have most of your questions answered there. And a hint for you, please don't post threads on the following topics or you will really see the azzhats come out of the woodwork.

What's the best intake for my car?
What's the best oil to use?
What are the best mods for performance?
How do I get better gas mileage?

These topics have been covered ad nauseum and the answers are all over the forum.

BTW since you're in San Antonio, check out the Central Texas forum at centexvq.com. Most of us live in Austin, but we have members all over Central Texas including SA and Killeen. We have a reputation on Driver for having one of the strongest local clubs and we're proud of that.

Welcome, hope you join the family soon! Depending on your price range, you could get into the 07-08s which are quite an improvement over the first generation. Remember, search button is your friend!

At least give him the right info if you're so tired of people asking the same question...

03/04 interior = meh 05 was a small redesign 07 was the purdy one
I personally like the 03-05 tails better than the 06+
05-07 MT rev ups...'05's may also have oil consumption issues (more so than subsequent years, even tho a few examples can be found as recently as G37's...)

But yes OP if you really want to know, do some homework...trust me, you'll have more appreciation for the "oem upgrades" available with just a few threads trolled in the tech sections

Good advice from Tim, which year you choose depends on your budget and if you're looking for a 6MT or 5AT. Many of the '05 thru '07 Revup motor Infinities with the MT have oil consumption issues due to poor quality rings. If you're looking at ATs buy the newest model you can afford with the fewest amount of miles, and get service records when ever possible! Welcome and Good Luck!

I had my heart set on a 6MT coupe so I ended up with an 07 - couldn't be any happier, it's the nicest most fun car I've ever had. I got it at a very reasonable price, but I looked for a looong time/walked away from a lot of G's that just weren't right.

So far as the engine/recall issues go, you can always call Infiniti with the VIN and they'll give you the lowdown. 8)

Check Austin out too for some cars. I got mine in atx. All the ones I found here when I was looking sucked and were expensive compared to atx. Here had more miles, older, less options. There was cheaper, less miles, and more options!

Says the person with 80 posts??

Best advice i can give is dont rush into a buy, figure out what exactly you want and try not to settle on something thats not perfect for you or you will regret it in the long run
