Hello im new here, i just bought a 03 g35 coupe,
I have some questions
1. The car has 58k miles i don't know what kind of oil the previous owner used on the car, i want to start using synthetic which one should i use? Brand? 5w-30 10-30 0w-40?
2. Also i saw in the manual that fuel 91 should be used, i think the previous owner used 87, i was reading that 87 can 'retards the timing' is this true? Can i start using 91?
3. What other fluids/maintenance should i do and how often to keep this car running and in good conditions for a long time
Thanks

Welcome! I just bought an 05 G35 Coupe last week myself! I'm still learning the basics and just joined the board a few days ago but the vets here will definitely be able to help you out.
I came from driving a 99 Grand Cherokee Laredo and wondered if 91 was really all that necessary. My mechanic told me it's not worth jipping your engine by using 87. You'll actually wear it out faster, get a hit in performance and enjoy low MPG. Sure, the 20 cent raise per gallon may hurt at first, but I'm getting great gas mileage.

Welcome to Driver and "Congratulations" buying a coupe! Synthetic oil is best for your G35s, Mobil1 5W/30 is a good place to start....Wallmart has the best price. Oil filters are as important as quality oil, WIX makes the best filters and most auto parts stores carry them. Our Infiniti's require at least 91 octane, that's what Nissan recommends! Questions, use our Search function! All your questions have already been answered in the last 10 years. Good Luck with your new ride....Enjoy!
