2005 G35 Sedan

I just got myself an '05 G35 sedan. 51,00 miles and meticulously maintained, it's awesome. I just got back from a road trip to San Diego (apprx 900 miles roundtrip), it drove beautifully and got 25 mpg which I was pretty happy about. Nothing quirky yet except the "service engine soon" light just came on. The manual says it's either the gas cap or something within the emissions control system. Blogs I've looked at also mentioned the gas cap but also brought up sensors and such.

I've checked the gas cap. Should I go and get the code checked? Any others had the same experience?

Thanks
Carl in Tucson
