got an 05 6MT
got an 05 6MT
Sup, y'all!
After a lot of deliberation and a few test drives in some newer cars ('11 Evo, new mazdaspeed3, Scion FR-S... and an '11 Wrangler for good measure [I was shopping b/c I just totalled my '97 wrangler]), I settled on an '05 coupe 6mt, as it was the best balance of looks, performance and price I could find in the area. I've always been a Z and Skyline fan, so naturally, it appealed to me.
I had them give me a 2 year warranty on the powertrain and systems, so I don't want to void that just yet.... I'll be saving up for some go-fast goodies over the next year or so. When I do get around to bumping the power, a catback exhaust is my first order of business.
Until then, however, I'm going to focus on weight, looks, and suspension.
I'm not into the stanced/hellaflush scene. I just want it to look sharp, clean, fast, and tasteful.
I like Seibon's carbon fiber hood (the one with the 6 slanted vents), and GReddy's front bumper looks nice.
Not sure which will come first of those two... I was leaning toward the hood, but I just popped the license bracket off the front to see it had been drilled in and the tow hook cover was missing. I ordered another plug, but it won't be painted to match, unfortunately ( I am taking the car in to get a door resprayed though, so I'll see if they can paint that real quick for me). Might be enough to push the bumper to the top of my list.
As for the previous owner, he tinted the windows, put a Fujita intake on it (not sure if that qualifies as CAI or short-ram?), and put a new grille on the front. Also looks like the muffler is aftermarket, but I don't know if it was by choice or necessity (Quietflow SS); either way, the cars history checks out... maintained well, no accidents.
I work as a therapist at a children's home. The boys all want to ride. As long as I don't take their suggestions for what I should do to it..... (one of them stated his dream car would be a Bugatti with spinners...)
