New G35 Coupe Owner
New G35 Coupe Owner
Hello everyone, My name is DJ and I just recently purchased an 06 G35 Coupe, non nav, with 125,000 for $8900, tax and title not included. I'm from Virginia, but live in Montgomery, Alabama due to my job (Air Force). I have had a crush on these G's for so long now and I'm happy to finally own one. I owned a mazda6 (gave it to the wife) and previously owned a integra and a 94 Supra NA while I was stationed in England.
Story on how I got the G: I had an 02 ZX6R that was on its last leg. So I bargained my wife by telling her I would sell my bike if I could get a fuel efficient car. She agreed and I bought a 98 Acura Integra GSR. That car was pretty fun, but I felt like I was back in high school (Im 30 years old). I then convinced her that I would need to get another car because the Teg didn't have heat and she hates to be cold! I searched for a while for a decent G. I almost flew to Miami to get one, but the deal seemed pretty shady. I was in Atlanta one day looking at a few and it wasn't going well. I found my baby at the last stop of the day!
I wanted to post her up here as soon as I got here but I decided to wait because I wanted to install a carputer. I just finished the carputer and I can now share her with you. I found a sweet deal on eBay for the radio, nav buttons and screen for $175. The cd player was broken but I wasn't going to use it anyway. I planned to install the factory nav but after ready a few post on here about it and decided against it and went with the carputer idea.
I took apart the nav unit and installed my own Lilliput touchscreen. That took some modification to fit correctly. I removed the button to raise the screen since I couldn't use the factory wiring to power it. I have the IR receiver position in the empty space from the button so I can use the remote to control the screen if needed. I wired the motor for the screen to a reverse polarity switch. I put the computer in the upper glove box. I guess I will post all the details of the install in the appropriate forum section.
As of now, I don't have any plans for engine mods, but im sure that will change. After the holidays, I will be searching for some nice wheels to put on her, 19s or 20s. We will see.
I think I have said too much. Sorry for the long post

Congrats NEW fellow G member! Glad you went with the coupe. Just be prepared for the neck breaking you'll be doing while cruising the streets with this baby. One main rule don't go cheap with this car (parts and etc.) and this car will last a long time
Thanks bro. I have already experienced the neck breaking. I caught my Commander neck breaking! Lol I was neck breaking myself before I got mine and i still do it now that I have one. These are some very sexy cars!
