Hey guys. Im new here. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i just bought an 03 G35 coupe. 5AT. I noticed a weird grinding like noise. I appreciate any and all input that helps! TIA.

Ok so i understand that the ABS system will produce a weird noise upon taking off for the first time. What does that noise sound like exactly? Im getting a weird grinding like sound coming from the engine bay or something like that. It sounds like a faint buzz saw . It occurs mostly, but not limited to shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. Transmission shifts very smooth though. Could this still be the ABS system? Exhaust noise? Or is it something worse! I checked tranny fluid btw.

-- On a side note, i do need new rotors. As I can feel the surface is uneven.

I have a similar noise that occurs only when I attempt to back the car on wet grass. I'm not sure if this is the noise your hearing. But it was my ABS system/Traction control system engaging. If this isn't any help to you, I'm sorry and I'm sure someone that's more familiar with these car's will chime in

 

The ABS noise is a grinding sound that only lasts for a few seconds when you first start your G35. When you first hear in it sure gets your attention!

Hey guys! I forgot to mention that it happens when i drive only. And everytime i take off i can hear it. Like a buzz-saw cutting into something. And i dont even hear the ABS noise upon startup . I think its maybe my transmission? Or some kind of weird exhaust note? Not sure and ive done research so many times and could not get an answer. I found a guy on here with the exact same problem, but no answers!
