Advice please
So I don't own a G35 yet, I'm thinking about trading my 2010 Madza 3 (99k miles) for a 2005 G35 coupe manual(58k miles). I thought I would come on this forum and get some advice. Do you think this is a good idea? I've had no problems with my madza. The G35 I'm looking at seems to have a cracked dash which is a bummer. I have found an alternative besides replacing the whole thing, coverlay. Doing some searching it seems the transmission had some syncro issues in the 03-04 and some 05 years. Is there anything specific I should look for or have checked out? Overall how had the experience been with the car? Thanks for any help
They have their quirks, synchro's are an easy one to check, just go for a test drive. Oil consumption is another common item so ask the owner how much oil it uses across the oil change interval, if s/he tells you none then I would strongly suspect they're lying to you lol. There will be a LOT of maintenance items that will pop up though, everything starts showing it's age at about the 80k mark so you will have time to prepare for replacing nearly every bushing on the car (especially the rear differential bushing which should be immediately replaced), wheel bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints, compression arms, brakes, etc. This is still a 13 year old vehicle regardless of how many miles are on the odometer.
My experience with the G has been fantastic, keep up on the maintenance and check your oil every week.
