Angry Camshaft censor code p0340 problems

I have an 06 g35 coupe with close to 150k miles on it. Ive had this car for about 7years now, never had a problem with it and all i ever did for it was buy new tires and new oil filters. About a month ago i was driving on the highway and my car jolted so bad(it felt like as if the car was trying to shift for me) i drive an automatic! But anyways i didnt pay much attention to it until i actually parked and then got back in the car to leave. I turned it on, drove for about 10mins and then my slip button came on along with vdc off(couldnt turn it back on, clicking the button wasnt working) and my SES came on as well! By the time i had gotten home the lights turned off by themself and the next day they were gone. I wasnt until 5days after that the car decided to turn off in the middle of the road. I was going about 25mph when my car wouldnt accelerate anymore, steering wheel locked and all the lights on my dashboard came on. I had to turn it off for a minute n then drove it to the nearest mechanic. They did the diagnostic test(they got a bunch of codes) including the p0340 and one about my evap box (dont remember the code number) i had the mechanic replace my camshaft censor bank 1(he sold me a used one that he claimed was in perfect condition). I got my car back and its been about 3-4weeks since that happened.
I was on my way to work today when i felt that kick again, my lights did not come on until later this morning so i stopped by advance auto and the guy gave me the same exact code p0340!
I didnt mention before but the mechanic did a smoke test and found that my evap box was leaking(i didnt get that fixed because im planning on selling the car soon and to my knowledge a leak in the evap box is not a big deal(except when it comes to mother nature)). Did anyone ever have the same problem? Could it be my evap box trigerring those sensors??
I need answers pleasee!!! (:

Thnx!

EVAP problems will definitely limp mode the car so get it fixed asap but I think you need to replace that cam sensor with a NEW Genuine Nissan or Hitachi.

Yes...definitely replace that sensor with a Hitachi or OEM. Any other brand just doesnt work well on these cars.

The OEM sensor from Nissan is fairly inexpensive, they were like $60 for the current revision ones with the metal cap over the end.

No! Dont fall for that crap like I did.

There are a bunch of sellers on Ebay who are selling generic aftermarket sensors and repackaging them as OEM. Im surprised they are getting away with it. I bought the same thing and my car started throwing the same camshaft code after a few hundred miles. If it seems like an unbelievably good deal, then its most likely a fake.

If you get one from your local auto store like auto zone you don't have to wait for replacements. The duralast sensor in my car has lasted 5 YEARS now just fine. Your mileage may vary though!

Ahhh scorpi0 ! Im so glad i didnt buy them! That didnt end up being my problem anyways, apparently i have a valve cover leak that is trigerring the sensors. The mechanic said there is nothing wrong with the camshaft sensor itself(although he said i could have damaged it from not having enough oil in the car) he said i was 2bottles short. I put it in a full bottle last thursday! :/ Im getting that taken care of now and im really hoping that this is the real issue and not something else because 1. He didn't sound so sure about the problem and 2. I read sooo many threads about how people fixed their camshaft/crankshaft sensors and their cars kept throwin the same codes again after a couple of weeks!
Im honestly not ready to get of my G yet but i am coming close to 150k ^.^ i hope all this gets fixed soon!

Low oil volume which causes low oil pressure will definitely throw that code. However I doubt you leaked 2 quarts of oil out of the valve covers unless it's a MASSIVE leak, you would see the mess all over the ground.

This is one of those vehicles that you need to check the oil level weekly because it will consume oil. Some vehicles you can get away with only checking the oil once a month, not these ones.

There was nothing on the ground where i park though! And thats whats worrying me about the mechanic not knowing what the actual problem is. He wrote down an invoice for so many issues that all of the sudden i apparently had.. but said we should start with this to see if it solves the problem. I usually do check my oil every week but i figured it was fine for now. Guess we will find out !

Your mechanic does sound a bit confused with his diagnosis. U mentioned in your first post that your car jolted while driving, and that can only happen from a bad camshaft or crankshaft sensor momentarily losing signal and killing the engine. A leaking evap box would not cause that.

Get yourself a new OEM cam sensor and have the mechanic replace it.

Top off your oil. Chck it every two weeks. These cars are notorious for burning oil. My car is at 120K and it burns a quart every 3K miles...and thats probably considered good.

Worry bout the evap leak later.

Not sure if what happened is even called a jolt LOL. it feels as if i hit the break pedal by accident for 0.1 seconds. RPM goes a lil nuts and then everything goes back to normal. I went ahead and bought an OEM sensor. He said we wont replace it just yet, but if the lights turn on again then we should do it . Fingers crossed!
NOT worried about the evap box at all honestly. But speakin of that... this is a lil bit ghetto but would welding it not work as a temporary fix? If its a small leak of course.
