New guy here checking in. Just picked up a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe (Auto) as a daily driver for the cheap cheap. Pretty solid little car so far, figured I'd come here for some knowledge and amusment. I'm a newbie to the VQ and the Infiniti cars, but I've been in the car world for 20 years. I'm currently working in Technical/Sales Support at Comp Cams. I've also worked at other branches under the CPG Banner (i.e. Lunati Cams/Cranks, Zex nitrous, FAST, ect) I'm Memphis, TN based and have been in numerous car club's/groups as well as motorcycle groups. I own a few projects/ toys including a 1970 VW Sand Rail (1600 powered) and a 2014 Harley Davidson Fat Bob. I'm all over the place and love motorsports. If you guys have any questions give me a shout and I'll be sure to do the same.
Thanks,
Preston T.

Welcome to the community. Always welcoming to see a Motorsport fan in the house. Check out Z1 Motorsports 350Z track car to learn about mods to our platform and how capable our cars can be...
Will Do. Thanks! It'll need Brakes and rotors on the front and pads on the rear as well as tires on all corners before I get to do any track time. Runs like a damn top though, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course being a domestic Pushrod V8 guy, and knowing lots of folks in the performance industry I was looking at the LoJ LS conversion kits.. I'm sure that's like unspoken blasphemy around here, but just being honest. I've got to say... The engine's smoothness and rev's from the mid-range up surprised me. I took it on an all afternoon drive yesterday. I couldn't believe it. I got the car at an auction and have less than $3k in it... got to say, I'm impressed and the VQ may be there to stay. Also if you guys need anything performance related to domestic pushrod engines (I do also offer nitrous kits and things), give me a shout. I can always hook ya up.
LS swaps are fairly common for the G and there's definitely no hurt feelings about that, it's a great motor.
For rotors check out R1Concepts, killer price on rotors, never used their house brand pads but after a short phone call with them a couple months back they talked me into getting a set when my Hawk HP+ are getting replaced next summer. They said their sport pad is very comparable to the HP+ but much less expensive.

Awesome, I'll check them out. Gonna experiment with my oil in the car too. I'll report back after some Mileage. We own Driven Racing Oil as well. Looking at running the LS30 5w30 Synthetic they offer. Tires are up in the air as well. It's a budget build/ Daily so it may get some el'cheapos and a dedicated track wheel set.
Thanks,

I'm in love with the Valvoline VR1 conventional oil. I used to consume a pretty fair amount (driven hard) and it's barely consuming any with this Valvoline oil.
Check us out too if you want a good read. Pretty cool stuff going on with Driven. They are also one of the few that still get their product from Bradford, PA
Click the MDS PDF link towards the bottom of the page (under the product attachment link). It's got all the pertinent stuffs. Give me a shout on the Comp Cams Tech line (901-795-2400) if you decide to go that route. I'll take care of you.
Welcome! The power band on these engines is one of the reasons I fell in love with the Gs. Driven oil is all we used at Veloce Motors West (a vintage race car shop) in Northern CA. Definitely can testify for the oil quality. Our engines consistently see upwards of 10,000rpm
It's good stuff. I'm the last person to believe in a miracle in a bottle. It does it's job and then some though. I've driven enough raggedy vehicles over the years to be a Guinea pig and testify!!
