Leather seat replacement alternatives

Hi all,
I'm looking for some alternatives to redoing my leather seats. I was quoted $1,000 for the front two seats (which is the going rate) however I have 150k miles so not sure it makes sense to put that kind of money into the car....Anyone had any cheaper alternatives....car seat covers, anything else? Also if anyone in the Phoenix area has any recommendations for upholsters I'd appreciate. Thanks

Keep an eye on a part out near you. I'm looking for a part out near me so I can get a new drivers seat.

I think you should call around to a few shops that do custom work like hot rod shops and ask who they have do upholstery. Does the ENTIRE leather need replaced? If it's just a couple worn panels then it's a heck of a lot cheaper, especially if your bolstering is still good. $1000 for a pair is basically the price for all brand new leather and all brand new bolstering. You can probably eBay seats for cheaper than that.

With the mileage on your G it doesn't make sense to spend and $$ on your seats unless you plan on keeping it for several more years! Seat covers would be my best advice, like Pep Boy specials!

I would go on ebay and look for seat leather. People strip the seats and sell just the seat skin so shipping is minimal. Here is one:

Just look around for something in good condition.

Mine had the inside panel on both front seatbacks where the leather gave way and an upholstery shop near me fixed them both with a panel for $300.

Buy seats from a low mileage car from a salvage yard.
