Infiniti g35 coupe
Help

hey guys, I got a 2004 g35 coupe recently, and I had knowledge of the passenger side door lock actuator not working, it just won’t lock or unlock with they key fob, and the prior owner said the driver side didn’t work, it started working or never broke and I’ve been using the key fob to unlock and lock. I found a video online showing how you can roll down the windows with the key fob and then roll them back up with the key in the door, so I did that and they rolled up, and then I did it again, i I think I felt a click or something when I went to twist the key, and now the key twists like normal, but there is no resistance whatsoever in the tumbler in the door and the lock does not lock nor unlockes, but the key fob works at unlocking the driver side door, please help, I’m afraid the door lock actuator on the driver side will go any minute and I’ll have to get a locksmith to let me into my own car, and I really don’t want that, I just need to know if it’s the lock actuator going out, or the tumbler, or a cable snapped or something, I haven’t torn into the door yet so I haven’t looked yet

Take off the door panel and look, there's no way we can divine this information over the internet.

If there is any way whatsoever to get the door open first you need to do that before you start. See if it's possible to slip a plastic wedge between the glass and the outer belt moulding and spread it open a little and see if you can see down to the latch assy and hook it manually and open it that way. The inside trim panels are not designed to be removed with the doors closed as the door opening itself traps it around the edges and the seats in the way. You can destroy a trim panel trying to get it off closed. One thing I've done in the past is to go to the other side and carefully remove it first since you have access so you can see where all the fasteners are and look inside of it to see exactly how the other one functions. It sounds like in the past they've been inside that door and didn't snap the cables back into their retainers and/or lock the clips on the rods.
