G35 sport coupe 6mt with brembo kit and Rear gutted
New here! Big Dreams!

Hey All,

A little about me I am new to the forum but have owned my 2005 G35 coupe for about 2 years. The car is basically stock with some poorly done cosmetic upgrades done by the previous owner, including front and rear lights, tint, and a truly terrible flat black paint job. when I got the car it came on a set of 20in avant wheels that looked pretty good but were well worn first thing I have done is ditch those for some cheap craigslist finds while I game plan the future of this car. the future of this car is to be my first drift car to start learning and competing with.In that spirit for better or worse I welded up the factory rear LSD just to help the very tired VQ break them free. With all the COVID stuff going on this summer might be pretty slow allowing some time to further dig into this project, I have so far stripped everything behind the front seats and am planning a custom roll bar (metal fabricator background will come in handy). The first things I have planned for the car itself is Coilovers, new wheels and tires all the way around ( the current craigslist junkers will become 2 pairs to roast on the rear while first learning), the GK tech dual caliper setup with a second pair of 2 pot orileys rebuilds, and a chase bays hydro and line kits. this is where I would like to stop with the car for this season as I will mostly only be practicing in empty rural parking lots this season. how I would like to approach the tired VQ for more power is to go for a single turbo LM7 LS swap, I've been doing alot of research with my free time but am wondering if you guys here have any more suggestions for jumping off points for research in this project? obviously with this car being my entry into drifting I would like to keep the cost relatively conservative for this project but I am realistic I understand this project could easily run upwards of $15k+ where would you guys point me for LS swap info and parts and any suggestions for making between 500-700hp?

Hi and welcome!

Thank you for the great introduction and photo! Your project ideas should keep you busy as we all work our way through this pandemic. You might consider starting a build thread to document the steps as you modify you car for drifting. Good luck!

Bob
