Nice Car
Exclamation Need Help!

Hello, so I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. Its been sitting at a storage unit at a mechanics shop since march because he hasn't been able to fix it. The previous owner stripped the entry of where the transmission cooling lines where they go and the mechanic says its a hard fix because if he tries to rethread it the metal shavings could go into the transmission and he hasn't found a way to fix it. Someone offered to buy the car from me for 3k but I don't know if I should accept that offer because of the amount of money that was put into the car. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or know someone that could fix this in the Chicago Land Area??? Should I just take the L and take the 3k??

Sounds like he's afraid of a drill and tap, and to be perfectly honest a couple little metal shavings aren't the end of the world for a transmission, even if tiny bits do get sucked up the line they're not getting into the valve body, they're going to be ground to a metal paste by the moving parts.

I would drill/tap and fix the issue, OR just put in an AFTERMARKET transmission cooler which only costs a buck fifty or so (plus installation). Replacing the OEM radiator is expensive but aftermarket transmission coolers aren't. Aftermarket tranny coolers are a recommended upgrade anyways because the radiator can always fail and dump coolant into the transmission which is a huge mess.
