2003 G35 Rear Axle Nut - Tighten With Vehicle Raised or Not ?

Just replaced passenger side rear hub and wheel bearing assembly. What a grunt getting to the 4 holding bolts and hammering the rusted in assembly off. Anyhow, the loud whirring noise is now gone so it was the wheel bearing going bad. I had the right side jacked up using the suspension (not on rear diff). I then tightened the axle nut but it seemed to go a lot further this time past the cotter pin hole to remove any axial movement in the CV. Lowered car and went for a drive. Should I tighten the axle nut with the car lifted and no stress on suspension ? (Raised using differential) or tightened with car on ground and load on suspension ? Also to what torque setting for 2003 G35 Sedan ? Thanks in advance board !

CV axle nut it doesn't matter whether the suspension is loaded or not. Usually I just stick a screwdriver into the vents of the brake rotor, jam it up against the brake caliper, and tighten the nut without the wheel on.

Rear CV axle nut torque is 152-202 ft/lbs. I normally go for the higher end of that range, 180 to 200 ft lbs.

Same effect with leaving it in gear or on the ground correct ? My G35 is a six speed manual.

Yep, except sometimes the wheel doesn't allow for a large enough socket. Not sure about the factory ones.
