ECU bad?

I'm a new member and I'm trying to get this site figured out I'm learning and I'm not perfect so please just bear with me.
Is there an easy way that I can test my ECU to see if it's bad or not? My OBD2 is not communicating with it that is telling me that maybe it's not any good? I just wish I knew a way to test it before I go out and spend money to buy a new one and is there somewhere that I can buy an ECU it's not going to cost me over $1,000? Please help!!!

You never told me how to check to see if it's bad. I don't want to send 4 or $500 if it's no good.

Here's exactly what I sent you 3 days ago, you never even replied.

Looking through all your posts and trying to make sense of the situation. If the radiator fans come on when you turn on the ignition then that means the BCM is not communicating with the ECU, and its most likely fried. If you get a crank no start (fuel cut) then it could be NATS (immobilizer). Thats what was causing it to not start when you swapped in the other ECU. If NATS is the issue usually there will also be the red security light (key icon I believe) illuminated on the dash.

With Uprev we can flash the ECU and program it outside of the car, I can bypass NATS and put a tune on it then send it back to you. I have no way to test if it's guaranteed 100% good or not, but typically if we are able to connect to it and successfully program it then its good. All you have to send me is the physical ECU.

Just to err on the side of caution I would actually recommend that you get a replacement, just to make sure. The ONLY ECUs that are a direct plug n play for your car are 2005-2007 G35 6MT. You have the revup engine, which is kind of rare. All the automatics, and 2003-2004 6MT came with the non rev up engine.

Under any circumstances do not get a 2003 ECU. They don't have wideband O2 sensors and are not compatible.

If you get a 2004 6MT ECU we can fix it with the tune (basically deactivate the revup portion of your engine and make it run). If you want to run a 2004+ automatic ECU we CAN make it work but its a lot more involved.

So ideally get a 2005-2007 6MT ECU, send it to me to disable NATS and load the tune, then you'll just plug it back in and go. NATS will be completely bypassed so you'll never have to get it reprogrammed again or get the keys programmed. 350z ECU from the same years SHOULD work as well, but there could be complications as some of them don't have VDC, cruise control, etc.

Thank you, I turn the key and the fans come on so my ECU is bad like I suspected. Now I have to find one for a 2007 rev up motor with a manual 6 speed trans. I saw somebody has one on eBay with the same numbers as mine. So I'll try to get that one then I can send it to you . Thanks for explaining this to me I'll get back to you when I have the ECU.
