Purchased a new 06 G35 coupe 6mt: liquid plat, nav, prem, RAS. Lovin it so far. Had german cars for a while and it's a pleasant surprise going back to japanese - the engine has that light 'rev-me' feel that my last japanese car (integra) used to have. I switch cars often (BAD HABIT) - couldn't resist trying my hand at the G35 (ALWAYS loved this body). thought about waiting another year for the new body style to come out, then said SCREW IT.

Lookin forward to enjoying the board. Will post pics shortly.

well, if i were to compare all the pros/cons, it would be a very long list, but the main reason why i made the switch was the SMG transmission... here are a few quick notes on why i made the switch:

- performance: you're right - while i can't justify these comments yet since i'm still in the break-in period for the G, but i'm quite sure that the M3 takes this one - acceleration, suspension, braking, etc are TOP NOTCH in M3
- price: M3 was $60k, G is $36k (and money DOES matter)
- SMG is unbelievable esp if you track - and ppl that say "SMG is stupid, i can shift just as fast in my manual..." have obviously never been to the track, and are talking about 1/10th of SMG's benefits. and SMG is NOT tiptronic.
- however, i think SMG takes away from driver's experience IMO (good thing this isn't a bmw board or else i'd get flamed all over for that one..)
- didn't like M3's raspy exhaust note
- both of my M3's were black and it truly was a love/hate thing - but i have vowed never to buy another black car again -- i'm a stickler for keeping my cars clean and hated the fact that after 1 day of rain, the car looks like it hasn't been washed in 2 months

who knows - knowing me, you may see me eat my words and end up buying a black M5 SMG next year...
