New Owner, sort of...

We bought our black on black 2005 G35 back in February, but I just got registered here - so I guess this is the place for my introduction. Looks like a great G forum!

We bought the G as a replacement for our recently totaled 1990Q45 that had 202K miles on her. My wife is the primary driver of the G, but I drive her a few times a week and on the weekends.

I really like the car... it has even grown on me more over the last month or two. We now have 5K miles on the ticker, and it's doing fine... I'm looking forward to adding remote start (if I can get around the transponder/fob entry system).

We ended up buying the car in West Palm Beach, FL at a very discounted price due to some storm damage from Hurricane Wilma. The car had several rock chips from flying gravel, and a ding on the hood that will look much better after I finally call the Dent Wizzard. Still deciding on the extended warranty...

We had Huper Optic 30% Ceramic tint installed on the sides - with Lumar Metalic on the rear (only because the Huper wouldn't contour to the back glass). Makes a huge difference now that it's getting warm!

The one quirk that I have found is that the car runs at about 3100 RPMs at 80MPH, which seems awefully high to me. This is either in D or set to 5 using the triptronic transmission... Is this normal?

I'm looking forward to learning more!

Heath

Oh.... here's a crappy picture, but it's the best one I have for now...

By the way... the Q in the pic is my low mileage one... not the totaled one that I mentioned earlier.

'grats on the G.....and the rpm sounds about right . It's due to the aggressive gear ratios and rear gear.
LOL yes, and 6th gear would solve this issue, but when we see it who knows.
Enjoy, and welcome to G35Driver.

Thanks for the feedback on the gearing... I assumed it was right, but it's good to know I don't have a problem!
