Is this some kind of scam?

I'm trying to sell my g online, i posted on autotrader.com and google autos. i keep getting calls and emails from people asking if i will finance the car? WTF? This has to be some kind of scam right? Do I look like a bank? I got another call from someone telling me they will be able to get me more than i ask for the car and they dont want any commision, but the buyer has to finance through them or some nonsense like that.

I sold my FD RX-7 on auto trader. I came extremely close to getting scammed. The guy contacted me and offered full asking price stating that he would send me a cashiers check for the full amount. He said that a he was a broker for a high profile client in Europe and planned to ship the car there. So I get a check in the mail for $8,000, not my asking price and it was made out to someone else. Turns out the guy got his checks mixed and then I had to send the 8 K check to the correct person and then that person sent me my $25,000 check. So I take it to the bank no problems. Few days later the guy I sent the 8 k check calls me and says that they picked his car up and then the next day the check bounced. The broker then wants me to contact the shipper and have them come by and get the car with in 3 days of recieving the check. My check had not cleared and I told them, thankfull for the phone call, that I needed to wait on the check and believe that it is couterfeit. Turns out that the check was counterfeit. The check looked like a valid Bank of America check. Lastly it turns out that the check was routed through some South American scam that the FBI told me could not be traced. They have this problem all the time.

My recommendation is to do business in person, not over the phone, and e-mails. If it is not possible to get them in person make sure that they are financed and send you a check for the full amount you agree upon. If you get a check, wait 10 days for it to clear for safety on your part. I ended up selling my RX-7 in person and getting cash, not a check. It worked out in the end. If it feels a little fishy and you took the time to write this post then I would not go with them. Get a check or cash for the full amount, do not offer them payments. Let them take care of that at the bank.
