Tints In NJ
I know a detective sargent in NJ, and noticed that he had 35% tints on the front sides of his car. Asked why he would do something illegal to his car....well it turns out you cant really get a ticket for having tints on your car. It is a pending case in NJ atm. Some 19 year old is battling it out in court. Turns out....no one can say your car tints werent done the right way and this and that. He told me that if i get pulled over just ask why you got pulled over for having tints it is more likely the cop is fishing for something else.

parg35, maybe he meant they can't pull your over for tint? I am sure they can give you a ticket, if they pulled you over for some other violation. I've been trying to find if tint is a good enough reason for them to pull you over. Maybe this is what the 19 year old is fighting. I'd be interested to find more. Do you have any other details of this case?

Many years ago, I was in Somerville, got pulled over and recieved a ticket for tint...The following year, driving though Somerville, and wouldn't you know it..that same darn cop pulled me over...admitted he pulled me over a year ago and gave me another ticket.. As far as I know, it is illegal in NJ, anything added to the Factory Glass is illegal in NJ for the two front windows (driver and passenger side)

huuuummmmm the last time I got a ticket for tint I was single (about 10 years ago) and it was in the $60.00 range...so let's add in inflation...and just because it's NJ...so I would just double it and say $120.00...I will check with a few troopers next time I run a rescue squad call...and ask them.

Those cops in Metuchen are no joke. They suck big time. Remeber I was on 27 over there a few years back and the cop was tailing me big time. I had to make sure that I did below the speed limit because if I did one mile over they surely would pull me over.
Also watch out for cops in Highland Park, those guys are *ssholes too. My friend was pulled over there for tints.

Cops in Marlboro harrass, cops in east brunswick harrass, cops in edison harrass. I have been driving since 1994, everyone of my cars have been tinted. i started out with 5 %, im at 20% right now. i have been pulled over about 100 times. not a joke. i have even been pulled over with my windows down, and they told me to roll them up to see if they were tinted. cops love to harrass. ive noticed that, the more sophisticated my cars got, the less i got harrassed. basically, if they think you are some rich old guy, they wont pull you over.
