Guys, what's open for dance clubs in Boston on weeknights?

I'm taking a friend into town tonight, and I don't know where to take her. All I can think of is Mojitos on Winter St in terms of places that have dance floors.

Any other suggestions?

And in general, where are the good clubs/bars to go to during the week? Obviously, nothing compares to Friday and Saturday nights, but there has to be SOMETHING going on in Boston on weeknights.

Gimme your feedback.

 

umm...all clubs are closed...Although, I think Venue on Charles St. has a Tuesday night. I'm not sure what the crowd is. It might be Spanish night.

Most of the "upscale" bars in Fincancial District such as "The Place" has dance floors.

Tues nights, the bars are really chill and people just drinking beers. You'll be hard pressed to find one that's "poppin."

Oh, and you don't need a dance floor to dance. Shake your groove thang, yea yea!

 

Haha. I go to The Place too often. Stopped in there on Friday and AGAIN last night. Sissy K's was pretty decent though, they have karaoke there on Sundays, and there were at least 100 people there.

Tonic, Wonderbar, and Soho are in Allston/Brighton. Wonderbar and Tonic are right on/off comme ave and Soho is in Brighton Centre.

 

I recommend either Soho or Felt. Does your friend play pool? If it was a Wed. night, that whole list I just gave you would be packed. Monday...I'm not so sure. Is your friend cute?

She's cute, and she's a Korean/Japanese mix. I have yellow fever...which leads me to another question....where do the asian ladies hang? I once went into Peking Tom and it was full of cute Asian women everywhere. I've tried to go back on 2 other occassions and it seemed to have a different crowd. I know of no other clubs that are popular with Asians.

I heard 33 is packed on Wednesdays...Ladies night or something to that effect?

Peking Tom is now black/spanish

lmao...there's two big Asian promoters in Boston: ISIS and Elite. Isis usually brings out the thugish crowd, while Elite is usually fobs and college students.

The following clubs/bars are Asian Night (meaning 80% of the venue WILL be Asian so don't go if you feel uncomfortable standing out)

33 on Wed - Elite
Embassy on Friday - ISIS
Pure on Sat - ISIS
Pure on Fri - Elite
Umbria on Sat, but it got closed down...not sure if it's open again
Tonic on Thursday

ISIS also has a bar in the alley they do on Wed nights, but I just can't remember the name right now.

If you need guest list, let me know I know all the promoters.

Lots of asians at The Roxy, Tonic, Wonderbar, and Soho on any given night as well.

on Soho. Never thought that place was ever fun. I suggest trying Tonic, which is right near the intersection of Harvard and Comm. I'm pretty sure it probably won't be bumping since college is out and its a Tuesday night.

 

Were you at 33 last Wednesday? I was there with 2 girls and a guy. We were there pretty early (10ish).

 

Soho is pretty popular now, but Tonic is def the hot spot. Weekends are packed, but not so sure about weeknights, as you said. Tonic is THE place to be on Thursday nights, though!

Actually, I was, but I didn't show up until around 1. I was at Tonic before that.


Another note, Tonic closes at 1 am.

 

Last night was Yeah, the last two times I went to Peking Tom's it was a Black crowd. No more Asian nights at all there?

Then I think I'll go to 33 tomorrow night! I haven't been inside 33 yet...I've tried to get in 3 or 4 times, but every time I show up the line is just too long. I hate standing around like a tool, waiting to get into clubs.


Last night was a blast. Mantra was closed. My "friend" didn't think they'd ever let her back in Big City (she started a fight in the pool hall once - haha), and Felt was closed, so we didn't get to play pool.
Went down to check out The Place around 10PM, it was still pretty dead, so we stopped in to McFadden's, had a drink while some band was setting up to play, then ended up at Sissy K's (that's two nights in a row for me). Sissy K's was packed downstairs for Karaoke, and there were a good 30-40 people upstairs at the dance floor.

Saw a drunk chick puke all over a cop's shirt. Even his partner laughed at him

 

^^ lol....I might go to 33 tomorrow night as well. If I see you on my way in, I'll bring you in with me but I usually don't show up until 12, 12:30. It shouldn't be that busy now that school's out, though. It's mostly college kids.

There hasn't been asian night at Peking Tom's for years. Mainly because back in the day, there used to be a lot of fights. And I don't mean little squables...I mean 10 v 10, beer bottles flying, stick beating, ambulance coming fights. They switched to plastic beer bottles because some dude got his face cut up. I'm not allowed in there anymore

Tonic is actually open until 2am now. I think the time change occurred about 2-3 months ago.
