Accident 9/15/07 - Is G totaled?
I hope this is it cause the luck has just not been there with us. My BF got in to a pretty bad motorcycle accident on 8/31 and is lucky that he is alive (no broken bones). I get a call last night a little after 10pm that he just got in to an accident with the G on City Line Ave (Philly). He said the "biotch" in front just slammed on her brakes (not gradually braking) but it was over this one hill that you can't see on the other side and there is a traffic light right there, so I am guessing she was going too fast (in her eyes) and got scared and slammed on the brakes. (She had her 5 year old in the car too--and the car had new dealer plates on it.) My BF said he wasn't going that fast at all (as he is a very conservative driver; seriously he is--I drive the G much more aggressive then he does) and he saw it, tried to swerve and ended up slamming in to the back of her. When I got there, the G was wedged underneath her back bumper and the cop asked him to try and back it out, her exhaust and a few other things fell out (so his bumper was holding it on). Again, everyone was ok, he didn't apologize but checked to make sure they were fine. His airbag went off, but he sits to far back, that he doesn't really remember him hitting it, but his bad left arm (from the motorcycle accident) took most of the impact (which sucks cause it opened the wounds back up again and are very painful).
Sorry so lengthy, I don't have any pictures, but the entire front end was completely smashed in. I couldn't believe it. I am assuming the axel, frame are damaged, but think for sure they are. Basically, there was not front of the car when I saw it. Do you think this would be totaled or they would rebuild everything? Plus it sucks, cause I know once you get in to an accident, nothing is the same if they fix it.
And I looked on KBB and it says this car's value is $36,035. Is this right???
Thanks guys!

Thanks. Actually, we do not want another G, so I am kinda hoping it is totaled. We would like a truck in its place and or a good "commuter" car. I don't want the "high" car payments now. Got other things in mind we want to buy.

I think you got the wrong thread.
Sorry to hear Sheilah.
My car was fixed with 19k in estimate but in the end it totaled out to 25k.
My car wasn't totaled but since the airbags popped I think it will.
Hope he makes a good recovery and sorry for your bad luck sounds like me last year.

Thanks guys.
Yea the airbag went off. I just talked to the collision place and it is totalled by their books. They were at $20k yesterday afternoon and hadn't gone "in" yet. He said they were at 95% so we are just waiting to hear back from the insurance company now. Cross your fingers for me...who would want this car back after all that...even fixed?
