Snow/Winter Tires

hi guys, i am from nor cal (bay area). i'd like to help out a fellow friend/g35 owner with his questions. he emailed me today to break the news that he bought a (not sure what yr) LR g35, he was wondering:

"how does your car handle in the rain? tryin to see what i can do to it to get a better traction..cause im about to face rain and snow here in dc soon..."

any words of wisdom for my friend? it doesnt snow here so i am not too familiar with what options he has, looks like his car is bone stock! & ofcourse i told him to join the boards! i am sure you will see him on here soon!

get good snow tires. stay away from all-seasons. get good summer tires that handle rain for the rest of the year. you will be much happier.

enjoy.

Snow tires and get to know your car. Dont drive like an idiot thinking nothing can happen or you'll find out the hard way that these cars are not 4x4 all weather monsters.

Like the other posters have already said, A good set of snows/rims and a conservative driving style during bad weather, will prove the G can get around with the rest of them out there.

I went with 17" rims and Dunlop Winter Sport M3's. I was surprised how civil the car was in the snow by driving conservatively. Didn't notice any loss of handling/performance with the higher sidewalls on dry/wet roads as well.

Don't think this car will be fine in the snow/ice with the OEM Summer Performance tires.....its a recipe for disaster!

Bridgestone Blizzaks. The Tire Rack usually has good prices, a local Firestone shope may be close by the time you include mounting and balancing.

I swear by the Bridgestone Blizzaks however other people use Dunlop. Those are the only two that I know of but im sure there are more out there. Do a search
