How long on summer tires?

I just got my car here in Boston and it still has summer tires on them. It was 32 this morning and I swear I felt it getting a little bit swirly. How long can I safely run on these tires? I'm trying to find a set of used winter tires, but not having much luck

Might as well get them changed!! I'm in PA and drove all of last winter on summer tires but our winters aren't that bad. I only had 3 days of down time.

I would change them now if I had them. Just tryiing to decide how long I can hold out and keep looking for a set of used ones Otherwise I'll just have to hit up tirerack and get a new set. (rims and tires)

I was on Summer tires all last Winter just to see how the G would stand up. It was okay....until it started snowing. Get a set of Blizzacks. Also search Craigslist in the Boston area there are always good deals there.

I hope we have a silent winter. I really don't want to garage the G and drive my old integra.

I drove this morning too and was wondering how it would hold up in the cold wet pavement and it did well. Didn't feel like the rear end was slipping out or anything.

I usually change out my summer to winter setup when the temps here in New Jersey stay below the mid 40's. Seems Snow tires wear quicker if you drive on dry roads with temps over 50 degrees.

I'm sure it has to do with the softer compound they use to keep the tread flexible in colder temps.
