NJ MVC

Reading the thread about NYers getting titles got me thinking about the NJ MVC. Where do I begin? Well just to start, IMO the incompetency of this agency is a reflection of the backward bureaucracy of this state in general.

When I moved here went to Lodi to get my license. What a nightmare! The place is jam packed, people screaming, cursing everywhere. One of the workers even goes ballistic and walks out! What other state can you get a non photo license? Ridiculous.

Titles - this is good. When my wife donated her car she couldn't find her title. Then I start thinking, where's my title to my Subaru. Can't find it. I came to the conclusion that I never got one. In short we had to pay to get duplicates. After buying the G, I get a letter from financer that they haven't received my title. I went to my dealer and they took care of it.

My wife is a professional and has had the same experience with her licensing agency. How f%$*ed up are these state agencies?

Re: NJ MVC

tell mw about it. I spent 3 hours in Lodi's DMV wednesday night to get my license renewed. I got the NEW NJ Licenses (the ones that look like a credit card). WHAT A NIGHTMARE!

Re: NJ MVC

Oh man! This doesn't mean we are going to have to get new licenses...do we?!?!? I HATE going to the DMV. Going to the DMV is about as much fun as finding a new scratch on my car.

If it's a G it's 4 me!

Re: NJ MVC

The Springfield DMV around 3pm is pretty empty. I'm usually in and out under an hour. I got my license renewed last month and still got the old one. You don't need to get a new id until yours runs out. They are planning to have them all replaced by 2008.

Re: NJ MVC

I have a year left before my non-photo license expires. Luckily I have a passport for when I need to fly (in the air that is).

Re: NJ MVC

WHoa! NJ has a new license? I need to get mine renewed in August. LODI is the worst DMV. Its worth driving over to englewood or oakland DMW. 1 hour as opposed to three.

Re: NJ MVC

The absolute best NJ MVC is in Oakland NJ right off I287. Great helpful people there. Hardly ever crowded. In NJ, you don't get your title until the car is paid for. I never had any trouble on getting titles.

Now, the drivers license is another issue. I have to get mine before the end of March. I'm not sure I have enough of the "worthy" documents to get a license. You need 12 points (I think) so I need a passport, birth certificate, SS card, and a tax bill or some other item showing your address. We'll see how that goes.

Re: NJ MVC

i had no choice but to go to Lodi because its the only DMV in North Jersey with the Machine for the new licenses. They are adding them slowly to more DMV's over time. Currently NJ only has 4 locations with the new machines, and Lodi is the only one in North Jersey.
