NJ Tail light tint laws

Ok so im going to be getting bats overlays but im not exactly sure which ones I want. I narrowed it down to 2 choices but first I have a more important question. Does anybody know or have experience with tail light tinting laws in NJ. Depending on the legallity of it is going to contribute to which of the two I want to get. Any help on the matter would be much appreciated. Ive searched the forums as well as online but could not find anything pertaining to the tail lights specifically.

And as far as which overlays to get, here are the two choices:
My car is an 06 DG btw

(tgtr2 GTR)

(tgtr06b GTR)

Let me know what you think.

Thanks again,
Chase

You'll need to use the style on the bottom. The style on top won't work with your tails unless there is an 06+ equivalent.

I'd say go with a set that has opening around the brake and turn signal rings. Less likely to get any grief that way, plus I like the GTR look.

Tail light laws cover visibility from a certain distance and color for the most part. As long as you don't affect either of those you're ok.

Might have to search NJ DMV to find it. Under inspection codes, etc...

if you go with the bottom ones pictured above they are perfectly legal. you arent covering the part that lights up.

I cant remember his email address off hand but you can PM on here. Just do a search for bluebatmobile. I do know Bluebatmobile.net is his gallery to look at the different styles of overlays

I dont mean to hijack but I figured since we were talking about laws in nj I would ask what the rule is with side markers. I bought some clear corners and have been running the ugly yellow lights in them. Is it legal to buy the white leds from like vled.com and throw them in there or will I run into trouble?

I know it is illegal to run white bulbs because the reflector is suppose to be amber. I dont know if the cops will hassle you about it though, let alone even notice. It really just depends on whether or not the cops feel like being picky.
