COUPE INSURANCE IN NYC
Hey i am looking into (hoping and praying) to buy a G35 Coupe 5AT in less then 2 months. My biggest worry is Insurance on a 2door in good old NYC. I am living in Brooklyn, the car is NOT under my name. Will most likely be under my mom or dads name. So either a 45 yr old female who will claim it to be her "pleasure car" and she has a clean record and no accidents; or under a 47 yr old male as a "pleasure car" he also has a clean record.
Help me out ladies and gents lol i NEEEEED this car!!
Thanks!!

Your mother won't be a happy camper with you posting her age on the msg bd., but I won't turn you in.
All kidding aside, when I called my insurance co to get a quote, I also thought I was gonna see telephone numbers and have to re-mortage the house. To my suprise it was very reasonable. I also have an eclipse and it turned out to be less than a couple of hundred dollars more for the G coupe.
Prior to getting the G, I was also looking at the Z, as it turns out the Z was more money to insure in the NYC area than the G.
My only suggestion is to have your mom or dad call your insurance co. and get a quote. Insurance rates can vary from zip code to zip code.
Keep in mind that although the G maybe in your parents name, you must let them know that you are 'an additional' driver to the vehicle and will have to provide your license #. There computers are interlaced with alot of other databases, you would be suprised with the information they come up with when you provide just one license #.

Re: COUPE INSURANCE IN NYC
blitz,
it is not necessarily insurance fraud. that is why when a kid gets his license, he automatically gets added to the policy, even if he doesn't have a car or isn't scheduled to drive.
in theory i guess, it could be because they would say there is no primary driver for the vehicle, but if they are correct in estimating the mileage......

Re: COUPE INSURANCE IN NYC
as others were getting at, if you are the third driver on your families policy and the G is the third car (or other same numbers) then they are all going to be insured as primary driver and not as a "pleasure car." If its a fourth car with three drivers then it isnt going to hurt the policy too bad.

Re: COUPE INSURANCE IN NYC
Why is that insurance fraud? i never said i will not be listed as a driver. I was just wondering ball park figures for someone male and female in those age groups. Heck, even for me im 21 yr old male. I was just posting to gain some info and knowledge so i know wat to expect when i call my insurance companies. So, i guess what i should of asked is, IF YOU DONT MIND, would anyone be willing to post what their yearly insurance ranges from for those living within the 5 boroughs. If anyone is willing to give info regarding this it would be greatly appreciated as i said because i basically just want to have an idea of what i am getting into when i call for my quotes, and so i know to stick with my current insurance company or if i should keep shopping. I do not want to pay over what i should. Thanks alot and i hope some of you can help!

Yeah, I wish I was riding with Geico, I like that little gecko dude. But NJ is gay and limits insurance carriers and jacks up the prices. I like how Allstate says in their commercials "You're in good hands with Allstate" but they're just such a horrible insurance company.
