Go Celtics!! Question on G service in Boston

Fairly new to the Boston area but I have one of the "ancient" G35's.

I need to do a fair bit of work on my G35 - 60K service, brakes are grinding. Also some minor bodywork - removing small dents/dings and paint touch ups. And finally I need to install a laser defence system (sick and tired of all the damn tickets!) which will require precision bodywork to install/conceal the laser heads and wire it through the engine compartment.

For service it looks like I should avoid Herb Chambers, but people here are happy with Kelly Infiniti. Any other recommendations? Any luck with Infiniti of Norwood or Prime Infiniti?

For bodywork, Ventura seems to get high marks - but is there anybody else I should consider, especially with regard to the laser defence system installation?

Needless to say, all of this is coming out of my own pocket, so I would like to get a good job done, but not pay thru my nose.

All suggestions are welcome. I live in Cambridge and would prefer something closer to the Boston area if possible.

Thanks y'all!

Go see Navin at Ventura's autobody in Lowell, MA. He's the best period and honest.

Thanks - a lot of posters seem to recommend Ventura's too.

I'm planning to drop off my car at Kelly's Infiniti for the 60K service and brakes. Then I'll set up an appointment with Ventura.

Anyone on here have experience with installing laser defense systems?

I did a search on Herb Chambers Infiniti on this forum (and others as well) and overall impression (with a few exceptions) on sales and service seems to be quite negative.

Quite honestly, Herb Chambers is much closer and convenient for me (I live in Cambridge), but I don't have the time or patience to deal with poor service, so I chose Kelly Infiniti since it seem to have better ratings here on the forum. I'll post my experience here after I get my car back.

herb chambers is like 3 minutes away from me, but i try to avoid it at all costs. had a bad experience about 4 years ago when trying to buy my sister's g35x. Then, I came in about 5 or 6 times for service on my coupe. they weren't all BAD experiences, but none of them were very good. Then, we tried to buy my mom's FX there, and they were pretty high in terms of price and offered very few service extras.

Welcome to the area...where did you move from?

Clearly you did your homework...yeah, Chambers service sucks IMO. I've been fairly happy w/ Kelly. Good luck!

Kelly Infiniti FTW..

I took my car in for service, and it wasn't even lowered. I had greddy side skirts and they refused service saying the car was too low. My passenger side window needed to be reset, and they said it would cost $115 for that!!!

I took the car to kelly infiniti, they did the service, gave me an M35 as a loaner, and the charge for the window motor reset was only $50. (i didnt get it reset, because the switch was broken)

They covered a lot of things under warranty as well.

Folks - thanks so much for the feedback. I just moved here from Branford, Connecticut.

General question - I'm fairly certain that I'll have to replace my brake pads (squealing/grinding noises). Do you think that the service center (i.e. Kelly Infiniti) will put in non-OEM pads if I ask/pay them to? I was thinking of upgrading to Carbotech pads for better performance.

haha, my sister used to live in Branford! on Opening Hill Rd.... absolutely nothing to do there

as for the brakes, change 'em yourself. it's really easy, and u can have some fun doing it. in fact, come to our next install day and we'll help you with it.

I have had only good experiences with Herb Chambers, I know you brought yours to Kelly Infiniti but I just wanted to plead my case. I brought my car into Herb Chambers because I heard a ticking noise under the hood (plus I bought it from them). I hadn't gotten the 30k service done yet, they told me most likely that was the problem. Their service manager Neigel replaced two belts under the hood at no charge and said if I wanted the 30k service done that it would only be $200 because he replaced those belts instead of $800.

I guess I will just keep going there until I have one of these bad experiences.

Maybe you're right - I might try Herb some other time - though as you can see - 3 out of 4 members here seem to have had bad experiences with them.

rockd - thanks for the offer, but I'm hoping that Kelly will do the brake pad change for me this time at a reasonable price. If they do not put in the Carbotechs, then I'll go with the Brembo OEMs for now.

Brought my G35 Coupe from Herb Chambers and have had nothing but awesome service from them. Talk to Nigel the service manager there and he'll hook it up. I've had my motors for my window, and sunroof rails replaced and also got a few people hooked up on getting clutches changed etc. Not a fan of Kelly Infiniti's service department.
