Need Snow Tire Help

I just picked up an 05 Coupe with 19s (225/40 Front and 245/40 Rear). I live in Somerville and work in Sudbury MA, and need to be able to get to work, so I really want to get good snow tires. Everyone I know recommends Blizzaks.

SO, my question is, should I get 19s off TireRack and mount them on my stock rims or should I get 17s with cheap rims (which looks like it could still be cheaper)? If anyone's local enough and has a sweet deal, I'd be willing to look into it.

I'm assuming I'd be able to fit a set in the car too between the trunk, backseat, and front seat if needed. Can someone just put my mind at ease and let me know if that's true?

One day I'll be less of a newb... Thanks for any help.

I personally have my winter tires on my stock 17's, and got aftermarket 18s for my summer tires. I just swap them at the appropriate time. Beats paying a shop to mount them over and over.

I have 17" Blizzaks on cheap wheels.

19" snows are not going to be as affective as 17's.

Can I fit all four stock 19s in the car?

Thanks guys for the advice. I'll probably go ahead with the 17s. TSW Nagaros good for winter rim? Does it really matter?

Get 17s...it will be cheaper in the future when you need to replace them. You can find some used one already setup (rims and tires) for like $700.

Not sure about the stock 19's in the car as I have a sedan. Those TSW's are nice, but would you want to expose them to the road salt & sand during the winter? It's all a matter of preference/looks. Those are pretty nice though. 17's are definitely a better move IMO...plus you'll have a meatier sidewall in case you hit a pothole.

Good luck!

Definitely downsize (-1) or in your case (-2) as 17in wheels are better to roll through snow than larger wheels. I have Pirelli Snowsport 210s.
