Why is there no Mid-Eastern section?

Why is there no Mid-Eastern section?
I've been lurking for quite some time but just started posting. I don't know if this has been brought up before but why is there not a Mid-eastern section? Like for DC, MD, VA, DE...It seems the northeastern section is way too broad. Not to mention there is a Mid-western section.

that would be mid-atlantic... mid east reference is for the area where lebanon, iran, iraq, etc are located
